Network issue in dom0
...rking with my own script which creates 4 bridges
("$dir/network-bridge" "$g" vifnum=0 netdev=eth0 bridge=xenbr0 - this
line I use four times for each interface). This works great so far.
/etc/network/interfaces in dom0 brings only up eth2 with a static
address (10.10.1.2). domU1 acts as router/firewall and has all bridges
connected to it. And every ethX in domU1 has it''s own subnet
(10.10.1.0/24 to 10.10.4.0/24). This works as well.
My problem:
Each time I download a lot of data (i.e. an apt-get upgrade which
upgrades the kernel) in dom0, the network in dom...

Xen disk device detach fails as non-root [libvirt-0.8.7 and older versions]
...I am able to attach a disk device do a Xen domain, using
virDomainAttachDevice(), running as a non-root user, but I am unable
to use virDomainDetachDevice() - it results in an "unknown failure".
Using "virsh [attach|detach]-device" exhibits this behviour.
$ virsh attach-device domu1 attach.xml
Device attached successfully
$ virsh detach-device domu1 attach.xml
error: Failed to detach device from attach.xml

With some digging, I determined that the problem arises when libvirt
tries to translate the device name to a number, using the XenStore API

Keep harddisks (volumes) syncronized over network for live migration on Linux
Hi,
I have 5 very identical server running xen 3.0.3 (Debian etch std.
packages) with serveral DomUs.
Theres my question: It is possible to keep thier lvm volume groups or
singe logical volumes synchronized over network?
Example:
dom01 contains:
domU1
on volume group xenserver1
with logical volume domU1
and LV domU1-swp
domU2
on volume group xenserver1
with logical volume domU2
and LV domU2-swp
...
dom0j contains:
domUn
on volume group xenservern
with logical volume domUn
and LV domUn-swp

Creating network bridge without IP address
Hi everyone!
I have the following setup:
domain0
|-domU1
|-domU2
|-domU3
I am running this with libvirt on a XEN server. Right now the server is connected to our office network, but later it will be in a hosted environment. I need domU1 and domU3 to have a public IP, and all of the domUs and the dom0 should have an internal IP address to communicate wit...

Virtual bridge in Xen
...at you are the author of the netback driver of
linux-2.6.18-xen Dom0 and I hope I can get some help from you. I want to
quickly have a knowledge about how a data packet is transferred between two
VMs on the same Xen hypervisor if the TCP/IP protocol is used. I am not
sure whether a data packet from DomU1 to DomU2 is transferred like this:
DomU1(front-end network driver)-->Dom0(back-end network driver of
DomU1)-->Dom0(Virtual bridge)-->Dom0(back-end network driver of
DomU2)-->DomU2(front-end network driver)
Is the virtual bridge in Dom0 in charge of forwarding the data packet to

VNC connection to DomU got black screen
Hi all,
I installed xen-3.3.1 and configured two DomU with 2.6.18.8-xen kernel. Now
the DomU1 and DomU2 could work and the network is ok. But I used the
filesystem image from jailtime, so the X-Window mode can''t work. Thus, I
tried two ways to make the GUI-mode work:
(1) yum install X-Window in Guest OS, and the GUI configuration Wizard shows
up. When done with the configuration, t...

Two problems with DomU reboot (cmdline, duplicate domains)
Hi,
just upgraded my testsystem to 3.0.4 (using the provided source rpm,
xen-3.0.4.1-1.src.rpm, rebuilt it to run on non-PXE but no changes besides
that, and it doesn''t look like the 3.0.4-testing HG has major differences
so far?) and I have two problems with rebooting domains (xm reboot, or
reboot from inside the domain).
1) the kernel-commandline keeps growing. On the first boot

Xen Networking problem!
...riencing trouble with networking.
Dom0 can reach the outside world when no DomU are started. It can also
reach the outside world when only one DomU is running.
The troubles begin when I start the second DomU. At first, this new
DomU, called DomU2, can''t get outside. (at the time Dom0 and DomU1 are
still reachable from outside).
Once I get connected to DomU2 (console mode, xm console DomU2) and try
to get outside, I''ll get through after a small amout of time.
Nevertheless, this causes Dom0 to stop being reachable from the outside.
Therefore when my two DomUs are running, there...

xenintbr2 is 10.12.0.1 (netmask /24)
eth0 of domU1 is 10.10.0.2

We''ve recently started seeing several domUs on multiple machines losing
all network connectivity. At least one of these machines (since they are
customer machines I can''t verify it for all of them) give the error:
