How do I tell winbind to always send kerberos pre-auth to Active Directory DC
Hi List, I have reported this issue before but I did not get an answer, ill try one more time before I register it as a bug incase I am doing something wrong. I'm evaluating the use of samba/winbind to join our linuxhosts into active directory. My testsetup use win2k3 R2 with rfc2307 schema fields populated on the server side. Add new DomainController
Hello community, i have added a new Domain Controller. But when i add it, no dns records will be created. No A-Record, no CNAME-Record and also the _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.hq.kontrast record for the new DC is missing. This article i have checked and fix the A-records https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Verifying_and_Creating_a_DC_DNS_Record

Win10 cant connect to DomainController
Hai basti, Few tips here you can check/try. A know problem, this might happen if your primary dns and/or search dns are not correct when connected to the VPN. See if you can use \\host.dnsdomain.tld\share and not \\host\share Then test \\dnsdomain.tld\sysvol and \\dc.dnsdomain.tld\sysvol Last, if you trying to access through CNAME, you might have hit this bug.

Problems with password authentication on Samba as an AD-Member
Hello, I've got some problems with a Samba Server. The Samba Server is member in an Active-Directory Domain (Win2000), it is NOT the domaincontroller. Authentication is kerberos-based (smb.conf: securty=ADS, winbind). The Sambaserver is accessed by Windows-Clients, that are domainmembers and by some Windows-Client, that are not. Originally Users, who were logged on the domain could access

Winbind generating alot of "Failure Audit" on windows domain controller
Hi List, I'm evaluating the use of samba/winbind to join our linuxhosts into active directory. We use win2k3 R2 with rfc2307 schema fields populated on the server side. For the most part the project is humming along nicely. A couple of days ago i noticed that the domaincontrollers get spammed with a lot of messages in the event log. The events look like this: Failure Audit - Security -

Exchange setup failure
I am trying to install Exchange 2010 with Samba. I am able to install the Management tools but setup of the Mailbox role fails. Is this known to work with Samba 4.0 beta 3? The release notes mention that Samba beta 3 is able to handle installation of exchange but some issues prevent run-time operation. Error reported by Exchange setup: The following error was generated when

Backup of virtualized Samba4 AD
Hi there, current situation: we have a Samba4 AD running on a VMware ESX-Cluster (ha/failover, ha-nfs-stores). I'm doing backups with ghetto VCB. Until now I only did "Snapshot-backups". But I know, that this way of backups is not the best way for domaincontrollers. I'm now planning to do backups by shutting down the VM, then doing backup and then starting machine again.

Debian11 Samba backport and bind9
Hi to all, Is there a known problem when using Debian 11 together with the samba packages from the backports (4.17.4) and the bind9 from the backports (9.18). With me it comes on each further Domaincontroller to errors with the "samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names". If I install Bind9 in version 9.16 everything works. I have the whole thing running in a Vagrant environment and can
