Problem with softlinks under samba on RHEL
Hello all Samba enthusiasts.
I am a noob w.r.t. samba configuration and just happened to use it on
Solaris systems by creating conf files using copy-paste :-). This is
just to convey that I'm no advanced user and might need help with the
solutions / alternatives to come.
Some background => Here is my smb.conf:

Precedence of usernames w/Winbind
I might be missing obvious here, but here goes:
Samba 2.2.4.
Using "winbind use default domain = <DOMAIN>" option usernames map
correctly, however, when logging on from an W2K machine I still get
the autogenerated UID instead of my NIS (Or /etc/passwd) UID.
Both nis and files precede winbind in /etc/nsswitch.conf
Commenting out winbind from /etc/nsswitch.conf works, which

unable to browse... (after hours of thrashing :-(
okey doke.
I have read the faq, I have browsed the samba web sites, and I did go
through diagnose.txt and the other documentation but still...
none of the win95 boxes on my network can see my samba server in the
network neighborhood.
usage of "net use x: \\server\share" seem to work fine on the client
machines though as well as everything else in the diagnose.txt document.

Printing on a Window Client from AIX
Hi all...
First, thank you to Matt Chapman for pointing out why I could not connect to a
non-domain participating machine. I needed to have a local account on that
machine (it wasn't checking back with the domain controllers as I thought it
would). I guess I'm going to have to start venturing out of the UNIX world and
into the NT one. Scary :-)
Either way, I now successfully am

seeding dev/random in 5.5
I was doing some regression testing in 5.5: Specifically testing booting
up a 'virgin' hard disk from a clean install.
I was testing what happened if the 300 second timeout happened vs
hitting <return> for 'fast+insecure' startup and punching in a bunch of
random garbage.
I found that for some reason, on a 2.4Ghz Celeron, the 'sysctl -a' and
'date' seeding
