docecot managesieve global filter, service name
I do have two questions related to the managesieve setup in dovecot 1) I did setup a global sieve filter, that is invoked if a user has no other sieve filter. If a user installs a sieve filter and activates it (PUTSCRIPT, SETACTIVE) then the sieve filter gets compiled (.sievec) and deliver does use it. If I want to deactivate the filter (SETACTIVE "") only the symlink (to the .sieve

docecot and procmail?
Is dovecot still considered unreliable when combined with NFS? Is this true for mbox only, or Maildir as well? If dovecot Is still considered unreliable with NFS, how about having a dovecot mode that would chain into procmail for delivery, so that dovecot doesn't (necessarily) have to reinvent that wheel? Thanks!

Proxy secured incoming POP3/IMAP4 to unsecure backend?
...-based backend servers. I wand external clients who connects to this proxy Dovecot to use TLS (this is easy to set up) while want to have unsecured (plain IMAP/POP) connections to backends. You see, links to backends are over LAN so no TLS needed, and these backends are poor old machines (with old Docecots like 2.0.6) this is why I don't want to use TLS to acces backends. But as I did the test setup I can see proxy Dovecot uses TLS to connect to backends. Is there any way I can specify this aspect of Dovecot proxy? Please advice! Send SPF SoftFails to Junk
Hello Dovecot gurus, I've set up SPF checking on my postfix gateway and have confirmed that messages from domains set with hard fails that don't come from a good sender are rejected outright. Messages from domains set with a softfail that come from bad sources are tagged in the message header with "Softfail (domain owner discourages use of this host)", but end up in the

LMTP and Sieve with <prefix><recipient_delimiter><user>
Hi there, Dovecot's LMTP implementation and Pigeonhole Sieve already do support the <user><delimiter><suffix> format. RfC 5233, the Sieve subaddress extension, also offers <prefix><delimiter><user>. Could Docecot's LMTP and Pigeonhole be extended to that effect? Thanks & greetings, Paul

doveadm sync backup from old to new server
I'm no docker guru - so I'm more than a little out of my depth in this case. But clearly ssh is installed, because that's what I'm running, and the sshd allows a connect and I get a return from ls. So, it's working fine outside the container. And I only need to execute doveadm sync inside the container. [Because that's where docecot/doveadm is installed.] So, it sure

Why is docecot called dovecot? Actually, nobody likes these "rats with wings". ;-) Timo, can we know that or is it a secret? Sven

KMail + dovecot
Is anyone running docecot on a home LAN. to give an IMAP feed to other machines on the LAN? I am running dovecot on my desktop, alfred. I want to collect email on my laptop, william, using KMail. As far as I can tell, dovecot is running perfectly. I can bring email from /var/spool/mail/tim on alfred to the same directory on william by running "fetchmail alfred" on william. I can then

I?m trying to migrate mdbox to maildir based on https://wiki.dovecot.org/Migration/MailFormat * Modified dovecot.conf and set mail_location=maildir:/tmp/destination/mailboxes/ * Then I had run /mnt/testmail/bin/dsync -Dv -u user at domain.com<mailto:user at domain.com> mirror mdbox:/source/mailboxes/user at domain.com<mailto:/source/mailboxes/user at domain.com> but that

Thinderbird+delete+move to Trash folder
hi All, I have a problem, which makes me headache. I can't find out, what is the problem. I have a mail szerver, which works just fine as expected, TB move messages to trash folder after I delete it, and they are moved. I have an other server. If I delete a message, it doesn't move to the Trash folder. As deleted_to_trash plugin is installed, if I only mark messages as deleted, they
