Javascript source client
...resumably for consumption by an wider audience (think broadcasting a panel discussion). This sounds very interesting from several perspectives. Foremost as 'how do I broadcast a radio talk show with distributed participants?' is a recurring question that we face. Also 'collaborative VJ/DJing' might fit. Also as Icecast 2.4 will support the Opus and VP8 codecs out of the box, so in many(?) / most(?) cases there would be no expensive re-encoding. In addition 2.4 will support native HTTP PUT (currently there is a quick hack 'support' in beta 3 and trunk).

Let me explain, a couple colleagues and I are currently working on our webrtc build at live.mayfirst.org site useing nodejs. We are currently looking into seeing if there is any development of a javascript source client? This would be used to send the webrtc room to a public

decoder with special features needed: pointers, ideas?
Hi everybody, I want to use a ogg-equipped notebook for playing music for (folk and ballroom) dancing, and a player for this should have two features I' like to find or implement: (1) I want the middle part of a song repeat "endlessly", with two track marks that I want to hide somewhere in a vorbis comment. (One day I want to control that with a gui or SIGUSR1 or something else,

(Un)Usefulness of Vorbisgain?
I've just Replaygained several of my Vorbis albums with Vorbisgain, ranging from 80's metal to present day soft rock. What I don't understand is why does Vorbisgain actually make all tracks QUIETER? I see an average of -7db on most albums. And after that, not only are they substantially quieter than my MP3s (which is a pain), but it also fails to really "even out" the volume.

Re: Fwd: More fallback handling
...mentioned that the implementatiton is problematic. Well, to understand the reason for the command execution, one really has to know how this patch came about. I am new to icecast, four days ago I didn't know it existed. I hooked up with the makers of an internet radio station because of a DJing software I wrote that turned out to be useful for broadcasting. When I was told about the workings of the station, numerousp problems were mentioned regarding sender connection and lost listeners. Nobody had a ready solution and so I started to experiment. The "run command on source start...

Is this just anti-Ogg FUD?
I was recently talking to a friend of mine who produces what's widely referred to as "techno", music that's heavy on electronically generated loops and effects, samples, and has plenty of bass. He doesn't like ogg for a few reasons - he sent me a rather long email, and I've stripped out the nonsense from it (he has some technically irrelevant reasons for not liking

(Classical) Request for Standardization of expanded TAGS
A month or two ago I sent an email to this list proposing to expand the list of "standard" tags for Ogg Vorbis. No tag would be required, but if you wanted to encode certain types of information about a file, you could use a standard tag. I went through the whole discussion, and revised my proposal in light of all the comments from everyone. Here is the updated proposal. This
