Distribution of Commercial RPM
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this.
Is there a location to upload paid for RPM for distrubution, ie a store
for CentOS?
Is there a discription of how to create your own RPM repository for
distrubution?
What about updates of these RPM?

[LLVMdev] Which linux distribution required the least effort to install LLVM 2.3?
Hi!
I'm a new LLVM user.
I want to start using the LLVM System v2.3. However, I don't want to spend
all my time hunting, pecking, downgrading, and/or upgrading packages to get
LLVM v2.3 running. I was wondering which Linux distrubutions(FC7, Ubuntu,
NetBSD, etc) have required the least effort out of the box to start running
LLVM v2.3.

Regarding Bivariate normal distribution.
Dear all R gurus,
My question is related to statistics rather directly to R. Suppose
(X,Y) has a bivariate normal distrubution. I want to find two values
of X and Y say x, and y respectively, such that:
P[X<x, Y<y] = 0.05
My questions are :
1. Can x and y be uniquely found?
2. If it is, how I can find them using R
Your help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks and regards,

megasr Sata Raid driver and the lastest kernel
Hi List
I'm trying to update to the lastest kernel but I have a dirver that is not

installed kernel but I cannot find on for the updated kernel, any adive would

Changing the centos name on boot
I am kinda getting a tweaked distrubution with CentOS, So this is kinda
rebranding. I am not trying to change the hostname, trying to change the
System OS name in the on boot screen.
I have changed the grub configuration file and it reflects in the Boot OS
selection screen, login screen. But only in the on boot screen does it not

chan_h323 readme file
Hello
I am getting ready to install chan_h323. Just updated my * with the latest
code from CVS (12/08/03). I was reading the Readme file and confused.
Quoted from the README

your distro didn't install them for you without your knowledge.
Check everything out of CVS. If you dont know how to deal with cvs, learn.

ks.test; memory problems
Hi R-help,
I am interested in comparing two vectors of data
observations to see if they come from the same distrubution (and have
settled on the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test to do this)..
I'd prefer to use all my data points, but computationally speaking,
this is proving to be troublesome due to the size of my vectors (the
larger of the two is about 90 million observations). I suppose I
could take a smaller samp...

glm poisson, method='ML' (PR#10985)
Full_Name: saraux
Version: 2.6.1
OS: Windows vista
Submission from: (NULL) (193.157.180.37)
I would like to compute a glm with a distribution of poisson, using a maximum of
likelihood method. But it seems not to work with a distribution of poisson. The
same code with another distrubution (binomial for example) works.
Here is the command I typed:
nullrandmodel1<-glm(Arrival~(x+y),family=poisson,method='ML',data=dates)
and here is the error message returned:
Error in switch(method, model.frame = return(mf), glm.fit = 1, stop("invalid

syslinux/isolinux in other languages then english
...untu the possibility to select
language with F2 and keymap with F3 on the first screen but i would like
something simalar, but instead of having to translate it Multiple places
like for Ubuntu and SuSE and Mandriva it would be better to have the
translation in syslinux/isolinux and then all the distrubutions could
use that.
As this is the first screen that the user and new users see when they
try out a Linux distribution i would very much like to see it translated
to my language so more people would have a better experience. Espicially
if they dont understand english.

Better idea than Poisson?
...ispersion parameter for poisson family taken to be 1)
Null deviance: 39244 on 896 degrees of freedom
Residual deviance: 11913 on 795 degrees of freedom
AIC: 13905
Number of Fisher Scoring iterations: 6
The rather high residual deviance could indicate that the data does
not fit a poisson distrubution very well. That's believable since in
quite a number of combinations of the three factors, zero occurs more
often that one might expect for a Poisson distribution.
Are there suggestions as to what might be a better way to analyse this
data?
Thanks

Hiding SSH Host Banner Doesnt work
Im trying to hide the ability to show my host details from OpenSSH on
GNU/Linux Debian using this method:
Add the following line to /etc/ssh/sshd_config
DebianBanner no
And restart your SSH daemon: /etc/init.d/ssh restart or service ssh restart
This doent change anything.
Another question why user cant hide SSH info as well? why it needs to be
publicly visible? (I read that only recompiling

ok, it models the coefficient distrubution with a gaussian
curve. check for yourself. the distrubution IS gaussian-like.
the solution just tries to keep the energy of the quantized
signal close to the energy of the original signal which
'plain uniform quantization' does not (as showed).

Keeping icecast from kicking clients
I'm trying to setup Icecast so that clients can stay connected
indefinately. Basically sources will connect on occasion, but may
disconnect until they get instructions to connect again (think about a
jukebox that does not play music until something is selected. Now add in
distrubuted, thin clients and you realize why this is an important
feature).
According to the icecast authors, it is possible to do this. However, I
have yet to make it or see it work. Clients are immediately kicked by
Icecast (1.3.10) and get a 404 not found. I saw this same response in
1.3.7.
Anyway,...

That's after hanging up (in gnomemeeting) on a H.323 call that is then

Now, before I go running to the bugtracker, I'd like to ask some general

awk vs. mawk
...ot typed, I suspect the zero byte might
*sometimes* be considered a delimiter of an empty string.
But that's where my incoplete knowledge of AWK chimes in.
Anyway, the whole point of that AWK script is to produce a raw sine wave.
Why are we doing it with AWK in the first place? Surely the FLAC
distrubution contains tools to produce test sine waves,
e.g. src/test_streams/main.c contains some, used in test_streams.sh.
Can we make test_replaygain.sh also use the produced sine waves,
instead of generating its own with AWK?
Anyway, below is a patch to test_replaygain.sh
that replaces the current AWK s...
