Sourceforge CVS
The Shorewall CVS repository is now safely ensconced at Sourceforge. http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=22587 Please note that unlike with the old repository here at shorewall.net, at Sourceforge there is a delay in updating the ViewCVS (web) copy of the repository. As a consequence, developer commits are not immediately available for browsing with ViewCVS

vorbis hardware
...can only decode MP3 files however there is the opertunity to decode Ogg Vorbis. These player are fairly widespead, you can buy them in most electrical shops in the uk, and if ported it would be the first widly available player for Ogg Vorbis. Breifly, the spec is at http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=54&group_id=7757 however it does not give much hardware detail as it is only a protocol spec. There is also a porting project in progress (http://sourceforge.net/projects/jazpiper/), and this seems to show the manufacturer is open to suggestions on open source. I was wondering if it...

One Remaining Issue Regarding 2.4.0
I believe that 2.4.0 is about ready to be sent out the door. I''ve made a couple of small changes since RC2 but I don''t believe that they warrant another RC. There remains the issue of what to do about support for Shorewall 2.0 given that 2.2 has only been available since March. It would be my recommendation to make 2.4 the new "stable" release but continue to

Samba and LDAP: Trouble adding Win XP machines to the domain
Hi all, I am doing some research on Samba+OpenLDAP (+DHCP+DNS) with the intention of getting rid of the Micro$oft licenses necessary to maintain the Server products from such company. One of the aims I have is to demonstrate other people in my company that an open source alternative can work as well as (or even better than) a propietary solution. At the moment, I am getting desperated trying to

Archiving CDs w/ Flac on Unix (and subsequent re-encoding)
On a related note, are there any tools which can read the Index information from a CD and preserve these in some file for later recreation? The actual TOC on a CD has very little information: just the Absolute Start Time of each Track. Is there any documentation of the "TOC" file format that is commonly used? I do not recall coming across anything. Obviously, I am also

Backups on external USB HDD
Hi, I'm trying to implement this: I have: - A windows 2000 server - A centos 4 server - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Monthly. The tape drive in the windows server died recently and I decided to switch to USB external drives. However, the USB controller in the windows server is only 1.1, so it is very slow. I didn't want to install a 2.0 USB controller in the

Shorewall development web site
Hi folks, Last night and this morning i''ve hacked up a quick web site for coordinating our development work based on Drupal (http://drupal.org). You can find it at: http://shorewall.dyndns.org I''ve put a few ideas in there - feel free to use the comments or sign up for an account and create your own pages (particularly in the two books about development and web site work).

I quit.
It is with regret that I announce that Shorewall development and support is officially ended. Sean''s post has finally driven it home to me that in the long term, trying to support a project like Shorewall is impossible for a person of my personality and age. Sean -- please believe that this isn''t about you or your post -- your post was just the proverbial straw on this old
