R CMD check dislikes .git directories
This may be new to 2.9.0, but I'm not sure, since I no longer have the older version. I notice that R CMD check has no problem with .svn directories, but it dislikes .git directories. That seems a bit of a problem, for folks like me who sometimes use git. Perhaps this behaviour could be changed? Dan. -- View this message in context:

creating a scale (factor) based on a continuous variable nested within levels of factor
Hello R-helpers I hope that my subject line is not detering anyone from helping me out:) I have been stuck of a few hours now, and I don't seem to pinpoint where the problem is. I have a data.frame which is structured as follow: str(hDatPretty) 'data.frame': 1665 obs. of ?8 variables: $ time ? ?: num ?0 1.02 2.05 3.07 4.09 ... $ hr ? ? ?: num ?62.4 63.6 64.6 65.5 66.2 ... $ emg ? ?

control panels, like or dislike?
When I first started using webservers I leased shared hosting. Then I moved to vps. Then to dedicated. In all that I was with various control panels. In almost all cases bugs in those control panels would cause all sorts of issues. (ensim, cpanel, plesk). The load on the server seemed greatly increased (especially with ensim). When I built my first server 4 years ago I decided to heck with

SunFire X2100 bios dislikes ZFS''s EFI labels, too
Back in December, there was some discussion here about the Ultra 20''s bios being confused by the EFI labels ZFS uses. After seeing a report about the X2100 exhibiting the same behavior as the Ultra 20, I reproduced the problem and filed: 6407133 X2100 bios intimidated by ZFS-created EFI labels hopefully that bios will get fixed, too. - Bill

Why does verifyFunction dislike this?
I am programmatically building some functions in intermediate representation, and trying to verify them, but the verifier always reports that there is a problem, and I can't see why. Minimal test case: #ifdef _MSC_VER #pragma warning(disable : 4141) #pragma warning(disable : 4530) #pragma warning(disable : 4624) #endif #include <llvm/IR/IRBuilder.h> #include <llvm/IR/Verifier.h>

thunderbird & firefox
I *really* dislike the new photon UI. I WANT the arrow buttons top and bottom of the scrollbars. Does anyone know how to bring them back, or is that "that's *sooo* last year, you can't ever have them again"? mark

bad text under KDE and C7
...gt; The i915 driver is fairly rock solid - virtually all desktop machines these days have on-board Intel video, it's the lowest common denominator. And your chipset is not exactly cutting edge stuff. Are there any errors in the logs - either kernel logs or X logs? For some reason you say you disliked Gnome - but does Gnome show issues (they use the same video driver)? A long shot is the theme. Are you using some non-standard theme on your desktop? Finally, do you have a spare graphics card you could try in the machine? (This is just to make sure there's no hardware problem.) P.

ncol(hitdat)
Hi all, I am a beginner to R, so you have a right to dislike me. I have loaded up a data matrix (664 * 28) into the R environment and wish to have a pre-written program (MAXCOV-HITMAX) analyse the data. When I run the program, I get: "Error in ncol(hitdat). Argument "hitdat" is missing with no default"; I can't seem to find much info in the manuals, etc. to help me out, so

[PATCH] RFC xen: suppress Coverity warnings about atomic_read and atomic_set.
Coverity generates false positives when read_atomic() and write_atomic() are called with pointers to objects smaller than 64 bits (because it can''t see that the 64-bit access in the switych statement is dead code). I don''t want to automatically suppress all ofthose, because read_atomic() and write_atomic() could still be called with mis-cast pointers, but for atomic_t accessors

MEMDISK bug in Syslinux 3.10
...ng diskswapping normally only happens if drive not ready or driveletters are pointing to same diskdrive. (DISKCOPY A: B: on a single-floppydrive system for example) Replacing only MEMDISK by v3.09 works. Guess I should have been testing earlier in order to help release a flawless v3.10, but I disliked signing up for even more mailinglists. Bernd
