R CMD check dislikes .git directories
This may be new to 2.9.0, but I'm not sure, since I no longer have the older
version.
I notice that R CMD check has no problem with .svn directories, but it
dislikes .git directories. That seems a bit of a problem, for folks like me
who sometimes use git. Perhaps this behaviour could be changed?
Dan.

creating a scale (factor) based on a continuous variable nested within levels of factor
...0 ?0 ?0 ?0 45 ?0 ?0 ?#song 7 gets a score of 8
?8 ? ?0 ?0 ?0 45 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0
?9 ? ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 45 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0
?10 ? 0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 45 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0 ?0
What I would like to do is to create another scale ( a factor) based
on the ratings with the following levels
-10;-4 == dislike where -4 is included
-4;4 == neutral where -4 is excluded
4;10 == like ?where 4 is excluded
My code to obtain this new variable
liking <- numeric(length(hDatPretty$rating))
liking[hDatPretty$rating <= -4] <- 'dislike'
liking[hDatPretty$rating > -4 & hDatPretty$rating <=...

What files to edit when changing the sdX of hard drives?
...assuming you have a running system, that you haven't
replaced a hard drive, an MDraid's not giving you trouble, etc.
And oh, I put that in another system, and it's also got partition one
labled boot... so? I'm not trying to boot off of it, I'm going to mount it
on /mnt.
No, I dislike UUIDs. I dislike, strongly, lots of extra typing that
doesn't really get me anything. MAYBE, if you're in a Google or Amazon
datacenter, with 500,000 physical servers (I phone interviewed with them
10 years ago)... but short of that? Nope.

control panels, like or dislike?
...the panel was updated.
And they seem buggy and insecure.
I understand for webhosting it might seem practical to add them, but
with the issues and bugs they present the techs on my vps/dedicated sure
spent a lot of time on the phone with me. That is costly.
Do you use control panels? Why? Like/dislike?
For some family and friends who I host a site for I found the setup of
an additional server quite easy. A simple one page explanation of
adding/deleting ftp, mail, or shell users, protecting directories, etc
seems to suffice.
I feel control panels are not needed and detract from being a

SunFire X2100 bios dislikes ZFS''s EFI labels, too
Back in December, there was some discussion here about the Ultra 20''s
bios being confused by the EFI labels ZFS uses.
After seeing a report about the X2100 exhibiting the same behavior as
the Ultra 20, I reproduced the problem and filed:
6407133 X2100 bios intimidated by ZFS-created EFI labels
hopefully that bios will get fixed, too.

I dislike 'Core' and all other overly generic names. Specifically, why
is Support not Core? Or vice versa? I would like a name that actually
represents the principle organizing component, and that component in
this case is the C++ APIs making up the IR of the compiler.

Why does verifyFunction dislike this?
I am programmatically building some functions in intermediate
representation, and trying to verify them, but the verifier always reports
that there is a problem, and I can't see why. Minimal test case:
#ifdef _MSC_VER
#pragma warning(disable : 4141)
#pragma warning(disable : 4530)
#pragma warning(disable : 4624)
#endif
#include <llvm/IR/IRBuilder.h>

thunderbird & firefox
I *really* dislike the new photon UI. I WANT the arrow buttons top and
bottom of the scrollbars.
Does anyone know how to bring them back, or is that "that's *sooo* last
year, you can't ever have them again"?

bad text under KDE and C7
...gt;
The i915 driver is fairly rock solid - virtually all desktop machines
these days have on-board Intel video, it's the lowest common
denominator. And your chipset is not exactly cutting edge stuff.
Are there any errors in the logs - either kernel logs or X logs?
For some reason you say you disliked Gnome - but does Gnome show issues
(they use the same video driver)?
A long shot is the theme. Are you using some non-standard theme on your
desktop?
Finally, do you have a spare graphics card you could try in the
machine? (This is just to make sure there's no hardware problem.)

ncol(hitdat)
Hi all,
I am a beginner to R, so you have a right to dislike me. I have loaded
up a data matrix (664 * 28) into the R environment and wish to have a
pre-written program (MAXCOV-HITMAX) analyse the data. When I run the
program, I get: "Error in ncol(hitdat). Argument "hitdat" is missing
with no default"; I can't seem to find much info...

Odd, I've never had that problem. On the other hand, I *really* dislike
gnome. I think their target is 16 yr olds.

[PATCH] RFC xen: suppress Coverity warnings about atomic_read and atomic_set.
Coverity generates false positives when read_atomic() and
write_atomic() are called with pointers to objects smaller than 64
bits (because it can''t see that the 64-bit access in the switych
statement is dead code).
I don''t want to automatically suppress all ofthose, because
read_atomic() and write_atomic() could still be called with mis-cast
pointers, but for atomic_t accessors

Kickstarting several *different* setups
...nt tool
> (like Puppet or Chef) to customize them
Seconded.
Personally, I recommend either ansible or bcfg2 over other tools.
Puppet has a larger user base, but when I talk to users at conferences
(such as LISA), ansible and bcfg2 users tend to like their tools, while
an awful lot of people dislike Puppet but use it anyway due to inertia.

MEMDISK bug in Syslinux 3.10
...ng
diskswapping normally only happens if drive not ready or driveletters
are pointing to same diskdrive. (DISKCOPY A: B: on a single-floppydrive
system for example)
Replacing only MEMDISK by v3.09 works.
Guess I should have been testing earlier in order to help release a
flawless v3.10, but I disliked signing up for even more mailinglists.
