Server Setup Advice
Hello Everybody! I am currently setting up an Asterisk server for medium to high load (approximately 20-35 concurrent phone lines). Do you think the following specs will sufficiently satisfy this system? CPU: XeonQC3220 2.4GHZ 8M RAM: 2X2GB/800 Harddrive: 1X250GB I could add harddrives and partition them into /var and /log directories to help with diskdrive throughput. Thanks! Elliot

Problems With Booting CentOS on Dell T7910
Hello! Does anyone have any experience with installing CentOS 6 (specfically, 6.8), on a Dell T7910? I've tried at least a dozen installs, everything gets configured, and when I have the system reboot, I get 'No boot device found press any key to reboot the machine'. In BIOS, I've enabled AHCI, Legacy boot and modes, and enabled the SAS controller. The disks are seen and

MEMDISK bug in Syslinux 3.10
MEMDISK included in the freshly released Syslinux v3.10 is unfortunately broken. v3.09 works properly. Scenario: Isolinux --> MEMDISK --> FDBOOT.IMG (FreeDOS 360KB diskette image). Then try to access drive B: , which normally is your first diskette drive with driveletter A:. However, in this case MEMDISK occupies A:, and real diskdrive becomes B: Bug: when accessing B:, you're asked

Array mapping
...ter variables are formatted as a comma-separated list of network interfaces, and of system disks. I wish to create separate Nagios checks for each. When I reference the variable like this, the individual entries from the list are not treated as an array, but as a concatenated string. notify{ [$diskdrives]: } So how can I get Puppet to treat each disk and network interface separately in the loop and generate multiple Nagios checks? Thanks, Jonathan -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. To post to this group, send email to pu...

LLVM z80 backend and llvm-dis missing?
Inspired by Jason Turner's talk at CppCon 2016: Jason Turner “Rich Code for Tiny Computers: A Simple Commodore 64 Game in C++17” I got interested in writing a Zilog Z80 backend for LLVM. Jason actually did no such thing, but instead wrote a x86-to-6502 translator (reassembler he calls it) https://github.com/lefticus/x86-to-6502 So I'm now trying to bootstrap this project. Goal: - be

Major problems with 2.0.7 and SATA drives
Hello everyone, I''m hoping to find an answer to my problem here. Currently I''m installing xen 2.0.7 on 30 dual opteron machines with 4GB memory. The machines have Tyan K8SR as motherboard with Silicon Image 3114 chip sata controler and 2 x 300 GB Western Digital SATA drives. Each xen server has 5 domUs, where some of them have high traffic and thus require high disk usage.

64 K write access grouped in a single disk access ?
Hi Stephen, I would like to know the behavior of ext3 for a write() request used with O_SYNC for 64 K in term of disk access method: - is there a chance to have only one disk access (instead of 16 x 4 K corresponding to each mapped page ) or at maximum two in journaled mode ? - if this is possible then how can i force such a grouping of data in a single disk output ? NB: i disable cached write

Root fs suddenly goes r/o
Out of the blue, dmesg on my HP Proliant w/ a SCSI disk gives loads of messages like this one: EXT3-fs error (device dm-0) in start_transaction: Journal has aborted Then the root fs goes read-only, so little else can be done on the machine. LVM locks up. At restart, fs needs a reboot to recover after fsck. The host starts up ok, then I am given some more minutes before the problem reappears.

First impressions of iRiver iHP120
Battery life sucks. This may be due to three factors: 1. It was the first charge that the machine had 2. Playing Vorbis takes more battery power than MP3 3. The battery is a bit rubbish More considered opinions to follow.
