ext3 and secure deletion of files and file slack
...om the secure_delete README below for its modus operandi (I appreciate that some of this will not apply to sfill). Thanks, Geoff --- HOW THESE PROGRAMS WORK The deletion process goes like that : 1. The overwriting procedure, in the secure mode, does a 38 times overwriting. After each pass, the diskcache is flushed. 2. truncate of the file, so that an attacker don't know which diskblocks belonged to the file. 3. renaming of the file so that an attacker can't draw any conclusion from the filename on the contents of the deleted file. 4. finally deleting the file (unlink). Syslinux 5.01 released
...as a pretty nasty realloc() bug that took some time to find and fix, which resulted in memory corruption. There was a bug in early ISOLINUX code that broke hybrid mode, various buffer overflows in ldlinux.c32 and hdt.c32 was placing a rather large object on its stack, which subsequently smashed the diskcache. There's also been some improvements to the .c32 modules. Library names are now restricted to the 8.3 filename format, which allows things to be built under FreeDOS. Also, all .c32 files are now stripped which significantly reduces their size. Lastly, there's new asciidoc documentation f...

Hello, I have a problem with my PDC server. It runs samba + openLDAP. It used to work fine. The machine was stopped today because of a power supply failure, and since it was restarted i have problems connecting to the domain. - The ldap data was restored from a ldif file, the ldap seems to work fine. when i type ldapsearch -x I see the contents of the ldap data. - When I try : smbclient -L

[PATCH 00/12] Multidisk support
Hello, the following patches should get multidisk access working. The syntax accepted is the following: (hdx,y)/path/to/file where x is the disk number and start at 0 and the y is the partition number starting at 1. So (hd0,1) is the first partition of the first disk. the other accepted syntax is using MBR's 32 bits disk signature so for example: (mbr:0x12345678,2)/foo/bar would address

3.0.0-rc2: Xen: High amount of kernel "reserved" memory, about 33% in 256MB DOMU
Hi, another issue I''m seeing with 3.0-rc2 and Xen is that there is an unexpectedly high amount of kernel reserved memory. I suspect that Linux allocates page table entries and corresponding data structures for the whole 6GB areas of the provided ''physical RAM map'' even though it has rather big unusable holes in it. Hello, http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ubuntu_1110_xenkvm&num=1 Ubuntu 11.10 with Xen 4.1.1 and Linux 3.0. Xen seems to be doing very poorly on that benchmark. If someone has time to repeat that benchmark it would be good.. Comparing the results to those from Stefano from XenSummit 2011 NA there has be something wrong.. the results at XenSummit were pretty much the
