Tests fail
Hi all,
Its been a while since I last compiled FLAC from source, but I just
grabbed flac-1.1.3-beta2.tar.gz compiled it and then ran "make check"
which resulted in this:
===================
3 of 7 tests failed
===================
Is this OK?
Cheers,
Erik

Samba, Linux, and file locking
...aded from 2.2.3, though, I've had to hack the configure script to
get it to build, because Samba's configure is utterly and unshakeably
convinced that no file locking of any kind exists on Linux. Once so
configured, it builds, tests and runs perfectly.
Can anyone tell me why Samba started disbelieving in Linux's file
locking? Perhaps more to the point, can anyone FIX it? This is
starting to become really annoying.

Change in behaviour for the "%U" substitution in 4.10.8?
Re: macOS, I was wondering that too, particularly since my Mac is not bound to any domain. But there's a Windows 7 laptop on my desk at the moment which is bound to the same AD domain as the troublesome server and is showing the same symptoms. I'll pick up some log fragments tomorrow, I'm not in the office right now?

OpenSSH 7.8p1 drops SSH connection with "Broken Pipe" IMMEDIATELY after successful login
The virtualization is VMware Workstation 12.x, NOT Fusion.
Again, I'd like to point that downgrading to 7.7p2 "solved" the issue and that I'm using the same virtualization software for ages (which makes me disbelieve the issue lies with it).
I've seen the comment about zero-length passwords... I'm not techie enough to understand the code there (or the technical

OpenSSH 7.8p1 drops SSH connection with "Broken Pipe" IMMEDIATELY after successful login
Added the line as above: 'IPQoS lowdelay throughput', restarted the SSH service, tried SSH-ing and Git-ing... same error as before: 'packet_write_wait: Connection to X.X.X.X port 22: Broken pipe'.

John--
Thanks for the suggestion. I finally had a chance to get to the
system in question, It was the only one of many that exhibited the
USB hang. I tried a reboot with the two USB disks
disconnected. Everything worked. I plugged them in, and then did
both "lsusb -v" and "lshw", and again, everything worked.
Continuing my test:
Reboot with both drives plugged in:

Yes, I have double check that time is correctly being synced.

Node classifier not loading any defined classes
All,
I am sure this is just something I am doing wrong, but I am trying to
implement a node classifier (shell script) to have my nodes inherit
the proper classes. However, when I run it I am not getting any
classes except those that are defined in default.
Rather than going into detail showing all of my configurations right
off the bat, I have a question:
I just stood up a

More likely, crap hardware, which is awfully hard to avoid in USB-land.
Just the other day, I traced a machine that failed to reboot to an external USB disk. Unplug it, machine boots right up. Move the same disk to a machine as

WG: Reference projects which using Asterisk !?
...ion from his customers,
or folks who want to become a customer ;-)
Where is Asterisk in use ?
In which larger projects is asterisk in use ?
I think it would be nice to collect such hints of such projects, and publish
it on the Asterisk website or the asterisk wiki.
This would bring trust to the disbelieving folks
What do you think ?
Or, is there someone who can report something about such projects ?
Maybe it is something for the documentation project....
Thanks,
Thomas.

Custom printouts in reports
Hi All,
I''ve started with Puppet recently. So maybe it is a simple problem, but
could not find out up to now the solution. I just want to print out the
debug/log message in client report.
The only way I found is to use notify for this purpose like:
class repo {
notify {"The log message":}
}
In client report I see this:

Using the nls package
I'm a bit confused about the nls package, I'm trying to use it for curve fitting.
First off, the documentation for nls says ``see `nlsControl' for the
names of the settable control values'' -- this is wrong, it should be
nls.control (minor point but had me confused for a moment).
Now I'll try something very simple (maybe too simple):

Errors on both client and server when setting up initial puppet infrastructure
Hey all. I am trying to set up puppet for the first time and I am

Thanks for the thoughts. Even with 'dmesg', I
found nothing. The reboot got rid of the problem
and it continues to run perfectly in the same configuration.
I, too, have a slight dislike for external USB
disks, and much prefer internal drives for esveral reasons:
- Internal drives are protected by being inside a
tower and thus have less chance of falling or

Yes, thank you!
Now with the "Host *" line it works.

barrier and commit options?
Hello,
On my home server (Debian etch, custom 2.6.28.2 kernel), I am using ext3
for both root and /home filesystems, with barriers enabled to prevent
corruption caused by my PATA disk write cache.
Looking for a better performance, I have also set the commit=nr option
as described in linux-2.6.28.2/Documentation/filesystems/ext3.txt, so
that I now have:
