strange lustre errors
Hi, On a few of the hpc cluster nodes, i am seeing a new lustre error that is pasted below. The volumes are working fine and there is nothing on the oss and mds to report. LustreError: 5080:0:(import.c:607:ptlrpc_connect_interpret()) data3-OST0000_UUID at 192.168.2.98@tcp changed handle from 0xfe51139158c64fae to 0xfe511392a35878b3; copying, but this may foreshadow disaster

ISE review of I-D: deprecate command VER?
I received the following comment from the Independent Submissions Editor (ISE): The command VER is hazardous because it encourages exploiting of implementation peculiarities that are not well documented in a protocol.? The best example of such a failure is the browser version field in HTTP.? A complete disaster.? You should warn against use of this command, or even better, deprecate it.

DC disaster recovery
If your runing XEN (XCP-NG), which im also using. I use the automated snapshots, and this. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/xencenter/7-1/vms-snapshots-export.html That should give an resonable backup. XOA, yes thats looks nice also, i never used it. If you have only 1 XEN server, i would just pickup an pc, or buy a second hand server and install XEN and run a second DC Or just add a second DC

ChessBase Disaster on Fedora 15
One major disaster is misappropriation of the special chess symbol font that is included in ChessBase for use in chess diagrams as supposedly legible: http://kayve.net/bad_chessbase.png another disaster is hidden behind the dialog, but when I installed ChessBase on CentOS wine, I found a similar problem. I am trying to accumulate my chess database information on the main chessbase window. It

Disaster recovery on PDC
Hi all, I search about disaster recovery, but I can't understand how to proceed... I perform backups on my PDC (data and configuration). My question is about secrets.tdb: according some docs, I can't install a new server and just put the secrets.tdb on samba configuration directory, because the SID it's specific. If I don't repair this file, the domain SID will be change and the

CR repo update disaster for my desktop.
I have a centos 7.5 desktop workstation with dual nvidia graphic cards running three monitors. I use the i915 motherboard graphics adapter for the third monitor with bumblebee to work the magic to enable the three contiguous work spaces. I use the kmod nvidia drivers for the two graphics cards. This has worked without a hitch for 5 months until this weekend. I enabled the CR repo and did the yum

DC disaster recovery
So, I'm generally running my DC's in VM's on Xen [XCP-NG]. And I'm considering recovery from different disaster situations - say a crashed/corrupt DC. Or hardware failure. Yes, I could run a second VM with a second DC. But unless I setup another XCP server and put the VM on that - the biggest threat to the current VM/DC is the hardware it's running on. So, it really

Sysrescue cd. If the drives are still viable and you have a spare beater system handy the data rescue should be straight forward. Done it several times. HIH. CR repo update disaster for my desktop.
Sorry for top post, my android BlueMail will not let me insert at the bottom. I have found that tracker-extract seems to trigger a segfault. I note this is not updated in CR, but comes from base. Removal of tracker seems too harsh as it has dependant modules like brasero, evince, grilo, nautilus and totem. Maybe there is an obscure relationship in tracker that need attention. Stumpped. ?Sent

Yeah, I could setup an extra XCP box - but at smaller setups, it really seems like overkill. So, it sounds like restores of the VM work "fine." How often do machine accounts reset their passwords? [This is the one that is most likely to be problematic. Rejoining the domain means a new profile. And that's a big PITA on the client side.] User password changes can simply be handled by

mixing tcp/ip and ib/rdma in distributed replicated volume for disaster recovery.
Hi, we would like to build a gluster storage systems that combines our need for performance with our need for disaster recovery. I saw a couple of posts indicating that this is possible (http://gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2010-February/003862.html) but am not 100% clear if that is possible Let's assume I have a total of 6 storage servers and bricks and want to spread them across 2

Greetings, I have three drives; they are all SATA Seagate Barracudas; two are 500GB; the third is a 2TB. I don't have a clear reason why they have failed (possibly due to a deep, off-brand, flakey mobo; but it's still inconclusive, but I would like to find a disaster recovery service that can hopefully recover the data. Much thanks for any and all suggestions, Max Pyziur pyz at
