Disappointed
Well, I have to confess that I am disappointed that in a fairly high volume list like this, I haven't had one reply to the questions I've asked. (I know I haven't got any right to expect a reply, but communities are usually fairly helpful). It might be really obvious to you guys, but if you have not a lot of experience with ISDN/PBXs, it's hard to understand. I'm going to

Re: disappointed with group
<rant> I concur with "MR I" in his "disappointed" post. I've rarely gotten help from this list, although I've had productive email conversations with individuals. For example, I posted twice about the fact that the "list archive search" function was broken for this list at xiph.org, and was totally ignored. I emailed individuals at xiph.org, and

%dopar% parallel processing experiment
dear R experts--- I am experimenting with multicore processing, so far with pretty disappointing results. Here is my simple example: A <- 100000 randvalues <- abs(rnorm(A)) minfn <- function( x, i ) { log(abs(x))+x^3+i/A+randvalues[i] } ?## an arbitrary function ARGV <- commandArgs(trailingOnly=TRUE) if (ARGV[1] == "do-onecore") { ?library(foreach) ?discard <-

disappointed with x-axes in hist and density plots
I've got a few issues with the x-axes in the histogram and density plots. First, often the default x-axis doesn't even extend to the length of my data. R often draws histogram bars (or density lines) farther than the drawn x-axis extends. For example, I might have a histogram bar at -15,000. But I wouldn't know that, because the most negative number on the x-axis is -10,000. The

disappointed with group
MR I wrote: > must say I have found the help in this group very disapointing. Have I don't understand why people keep complaining about this list. It's not that anyone has the right to get personal assistance by the developers (note: I am no developer). It's also better for all of us when the developers don't have to waste their time on this list for minor/simple things, imo.

disappointed with group
Hi: 1. Icecast 1.x is no longer being developed excepting for security patches and bug-fixes. Acordingly, it's probably also fair to say that it's not really being supported, since basically, the developers have other fish to fry. There is, of course, a decent sized user base, which I'm guessing would make up the majority of this list. 2. Shout has not been supported for some

starcraft disappointment.
I've tried everything i can think of and looked and tried a ton of hints on the page for it. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=149 Under "Starcraft is soooooo sloowwwwww (that's me)" Posted up my log and everything. I tried updates, wine updates, registry changes, switched from opengl to the default, back and forth. There are times starcraft

Disappointing Performance Using 9i RAC with OCFS on Linux
Wim, Thanks for your prompt response on this. The tpmC figures look very impressive, and tpmC is read intensive. I had already read note 236679.1 "Comparing Performance Between RAW IO vs OCFS vs EXT2/3" which I guess is the article to which you are referring; it made me suspect that the poor performance was due to the lack of an OS IO cache but I wasn't sure. The database is

new ssd to play with
I grabbed a new SSD M4-CT064M4SSD2 from Crucial. I am disappointed. I stuck the unit in an Atom machine (zotac) with CentOS 6 on the disk. It really doesn't "feel" faster than the previous 5400 RPM drive that was in it. The SSD is giving me (in the zotac running centos 6): hdparm -t /dev/sda /dev/sda: Timing buffered disk reads: 298 MB in 3.00 seconds = 99.30 MB/sec The

Ruby on Rails Impossible Windows
Hello, Ruby on Rails still, as I think, very poor with MS Windows. I make the comparison as a PHP user. In some minutes, I have got Apache running PHP easily. In Ruby On Rails, there is no such breeze. I expect in the future, Ruby on Rails is going to offer something like php4apache.dll to make life easier. As I think, There are three things made PHP popular: 1st, The ease of installation 2nd,

The Next Guide Will Be...
The Next Guide Will Be... August 3rd, 2005 The next guide on Sambadmin will about creating a great LDAP infrastructure. I have been disappointed that I have only received two comments about what the next guide should be, especially since the site has had over 500 visitors in the past two days. I came to this decision after reading my posts. I stated that the core motivation behind all of this is

Digium cards, so disappointing !
I am so fed up with Digium cards. My company first owned a TE410P, I installed it in a Dell server and "enjoyed" its instability (we bought it months before Digium warned about the incompatibility issues). Then we switched to a TE411P for the hardware echo cancellation. Now we want to receive fax (< 20/day) on it and guess what ? Since April 2006 (again a few months after we bought

Disappointed
I have subscribed to this list for about a month now. I am just a MarkDown user; new to it. Using it within *Ema Personal Wiki & Epistle* for Android. I am not trying to implement this cool little light language into an app I am developing; maybe someday. I signed up because I thought I might get some MarkDown use tips. *I have learned nothing from this list.* I have witnessed a lot of

Sound of breathing
while using iax and a soft phone, the sound of breathing comes through so clearly that it has started bothering me. Earlier I was amazed at the quality, but now feel it is irritating. Wondering if there is a way to cut it down. I am in the process of exploring using iax for a call center, but this sound of breathing is a disappointment. Thanks Hari
