install other OS to unprivileged domain
Dear all,
I have set up one unprivileged Domain-1 with help of FedoraQuickStart and
some help from you.
Now I want to install some other OS to Domain-2.
How can I install a different OS (say Redhat 7.3) onto a unprivileged
domain?
Do I have to copy all files from an existed installation to an image file?
Thanks,
Koala

Realtek RTL8111B
Hello,
I am bussy building a xen cluster.
When selecting mainboards for this cluster i came only up with core 2 duo mainboards with onboard gigabit ethernet cards with the realtek RTL8111B chipset.
I have tested a mainboard and could not find a way to compile the driver sourcecode from the realtek site because of a missing /lib/modules/2.6.16-xen/Build directory.

File permissions test during R CMD check
I (still) use RCS, and not CVS, for my own projects. R CMD check does not
like the 0444 file permissions on files check into RCS.
I conjecture that this stems from desire to have the installed files in a
state in which they can be edited, but I might be off base ... In case my
conjecture holds, would it be possible to relax the restriction during R CMD
check, but then install the files as 0644

No Folder browseable
Hello everybody,
i upgraded last week a samba installation from version 3.0.9 to version 3.0.14a using
the rpms from ftp.sernet.de (sles9-i386 tree). I just installed the rpms as usual
with the rpm -e and rpm -i and everything seems to be fine. But there was no browsing
possible. due to a small timeslot i had to downgrade to 3.0.9 then which worked very fine.
the problem is that i have to find

Package RPostgreSQL_0.1-6.tar.gz has been checked and built
Hi Dirk
I think there are problems with pg_config, the configure script of
RPostgreSQL checks for pg_config and got ¡°checking for pg_config...

installed, there are in /usr/postgres/8.2(8.2.9) and

CRAN indices out of whack (for at least macOS)
Dirk,
yes, thanks, the edge server that serves the Mac binaries to CRAN has run out of disk space (due to size of CRAN itself) so the sync was incomplete.
It is fixed now -- you can try by using the macos master server as mirror: https://r.research.att.com/ and it will propagate through other mirrors as usual.
Thanks,
Simon

Problems with Microchips MPLAB IDE
Hello,
I try to use Microchips MPLAB IDE 7.22 with wine 0.9.3 in contrary to the
AppDB it doesn't work, it hangs during the first splash screen. When I try it
with WINEDEBUG=warn+all the last message I get is:
warn:gdi:GDI_GetObjPtr Invalid handle 0x62c
I already registered all the .dlls as advised in the AppDB and also installed
a gdi32.dll.
Does anybody has an idea?
Thanks,
Dirk

Docker build issue
Hi Dave and Dirk,
sorry, I do not understand half of this, as I do not use docker myself. Buf if
Dirk does not use Debian buster as the basis for his Rocker container, then
you should probably not try to install the backport to buster. Shouldn't these
docker containers be there to avoid the need to install R?

Understanding POSIXct creation on different OSes.
Hello,
Following Dirk's post here: https://github.com/Rdatatable/data.table/issues/1619
we would like to clarify if this is the right behaviour, and if so,
the rationale behind it.
Here's the summary (thanks to Dirk and Joshua):

problem with R CMD build (PR#7240)
Hello,
This may not be a bug--but I'm not sure. I have R 1.91 installed on a
machine that's running Windows XP. In Cygwin, when I attempt to use the
"build" command it tells me that TMPDIR is set to an invalid directory.
See the results below:

R libcurl does not recognize server certs
Dirk,
ive changed the subject given the nature of the present debugging. Im aware i can extend extras from download.file to install.packages however
im curious to know why libcurl in the R invocation does not honor the CA bundle on my system.
how would I pass a CA bundle to install.packages? the function has numerous arguments before the extras are taken.

CRAN R 4.0.0 for Ubuntu repos missing r-recommend dependency
Hi Dirk,
Thanks for the suggested workarounds. This was just a VM I had spun up so I
could test R4.0.0. I'm happy to wait for Michael to fix it when he has time.

Hello everbody,
this is really urgent.
at the moment the status is as follows:
We changed the primafy group to a group without german characters: "?,?,?".
It works fine, as long as the primary group as full access to the file.
If not, it doesn't work.
The Problem in detail:

Ubuntu 20.10
Thanks Dirk - I think I turned off html now.
That worked. I had actually "mastered" that a couple of years ago but keep forgetting how to get the latest and greatest r-debian repo.
I just had to edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/c2d4u_team*.list to change groovy to focal. I now see 4448 r-cran-* packages.
I'll contact the debian package maintainer about the problem with RcppParallel.

You know options but you are confused about maturity dates, i.e. expiry?
In information in that list (ie along the date dimension) is the expiry; at
each date you have another list for both puts and calls, and inside each of
those a grid given by the
