frequency table-visualization for complex categorical variables
...,C,D,E) and q2 and q3 are the same. If the respondents
selects A B C (so BCA or BAC or CBA or CAB), I'd like to construct
frequency table for ABC and other combinations for example DEF.
Unfortunately, there are many answers, and three-way contingency table
includes lots of cells which make it diffucult to interpret and requires
lots of extra work to organize data.
What is the best way to construct fruequency table of these kind of
variables and to visulize the results with the most simple form

Yes, you're right, I was tired when I wrote that.
Has the regression testing been successful?

Dark side of the force and multiple db's
...nd can''t seem to get
things done anymore, but we are sure having fun with RAILS. At any
rate, we have used RAILS to quickly synchronize our assets and give us
a "GOOGLY" interface to our $STUFF that we maintain. Helps out in a
huge hospital implementation when integration is as diffucult as
political.
I approached this with a "seperate" but "integrated" approach without
doing my homework, and I need you for further advice (since this list
and #rubyonrails build most of it anyway).

model.matrix() (PR#285)
I was alarmed to discover that model.matrix.default() can permute columns
with respect to the formula. This seems to happen with user-defined
components of the formula. Thus
X <- matrix(1:4, 1, 4, dimnames = list(NULL, LETTERS[1:4]))
Q <- function(x) x^2 # because model.matrix() does not like, eg, A:A
model.matrix(~ -1 + A + A:B + Q(C), data.frame(X))
has columns ordered A, Q(C), and

R-beta: How do I dyn.load in R for Windows95?
I am currently running R under Windows95.
I am entirely new to R in any environment, with no prior experience of S
or S-Plus
either.
I want to run some functions written for S-plus and residing in a file
"cat.s". The
fuctions also call some Fortran routines residing in a compiled fortran
file "cat.obj"
In S-Plus as I understand it I am supposed to first

Hi,
OpenSSH 7.4 p1 still can't be build without patch on Solaris 10 (attached).
Pls, may be possible to add conditional compilation/configuration to
avoid manual actions before build? May be, in portable version?
Otherwise seems OpenSSH stops be portable on all platforms.
Thank you,
WBR, Yuri.

[OGG IS BEST, BUT UNUSABLE! (very important)]
...for a long time and it was a great surprise to find an other decent encoder.
OGGVorbis has superior sound quality to mp3 ABR/CBR 128, that's a fact.
So why did I call it 'UNUSABLE'?!?
The whole failure is hidden in OGG's philosophy. Let me put this in such way:
Suppose I had a very diffucult piece of music (but of course I don't know it, cuz it rather can't be determined by ear).
I encode this piece with Lame VBR -V 1 and I'M COMPLETELY SURE IT'LL BE ABOUT 98% transparent to the original. Sometimes the piece
will be encoded at 200 kbps, sometimes 105 kbps (these are rea...

JOIN conditions
Hi,
how can I get Rails to generate SQL queries with conditions in the JOIN clause?
What I would want is:
SELECT * FROM people p
LEFT OUTER JOIN jobs j (p.job_id = j.id AND j.salary > 9999999)
I tried
People.find(:all, :include => ''jobs'', :conditions => ''jobs.salary > 9999999'')
but that generates
SELECT * FROM people p
LEFT OUTER

cuesheets w/ PERFORMER & TITLE track info
Hi there,
is there any specific reason for ignoring TITLE and PERFORMER info when
importing CD-TEXT cuesheets into flac files? (These two fields have not
always been used but they have become widely supported by now). One may
answer that the preferred method for getting this kind of info for a
cuesheet-flac would be CDDB, but CDDB info is not always reliable.
In my opinion the goal "Now a CD

Interesting file-sharing idea
This may be unrealistic and useless, but I've been thinking about an interesting file-sharing solution.
In my system, only Ogg Vorbis files may be shared, and they should all be directly ripped from a CD. Nothing that someone would convert from MP3, etc. While that cannot be enforceable, it should be made clear. Also, track listings should be not filenames, but the Artist and Title of the
