Input file format to Anova from car package
Dear list member, My question is related to input file format to an Anova from car package. Here is an example of what I did: My file format is like this (and I dislike the idea that I will need to recode it): Hormone day Block Treatment Plant Diameter High N.Leaves SH 23 1 1 1 3.19 25.3 2 SH 23 1 1 2 3.42 5.5 1 SH 23 1 2 1 2.19 5.2 2 SH 23 1 2 2 2.17 7.6 2 CH 23 1 1 1 3.64 6.5 2 CH 23 1 1 2

Repeated measures unbalanced in a split-split design
Hi, I have a experiment with block, plots, sub-plots, and sub-sub-plots with repeated measures and 3 factors (factorial design) when we have been observed diameter (mm), high (cm) and leaves number (count). However, we don't have one treatment in one factor, so, my design is unbalanced. On a previous message here, a friend tell me that "It appears to me that your design is a split-split

Diameter for Asterisk, Traffix Diameter stack ?
Hi, I need a Diameter protocol stack (DDA/Ro) for Asterisk. I came across Traffix Systems Diameter stack. according to the site they got Asterisk ready Diameter stack and also Diameter Gateway that can interface to Asterisk, has anyone tried those out ? thanks Maria

"& not meaningful for factors"
I am trying to define groupings from levels of factor variables and this the warning message that R give "& not meaningful for factors". The nature of my task is this. I have a variable stage which has the levels (1B, 2A, 2B) - these are the AJCC TNM stages of cancer, and another variable diameter with factor levels ("=< 4", "4 - 6.5, > 6.5; limit values are

Calculating diameters of cirkels in a picture.
Hi, Maybe this is more a programming questions than a specific R-project question, but maybe there is someone who can point me in the right direction. I have a picture of cirkels which I took with a digital camera. Now I want to use the diameter of the cirkels on the picture for analysis in R. I can use pixmap to import the picture, but how do I find the outside cirkels and calculate the

plot() and lines() multivariate problem
Dear list I'm trying to solve the following problem since 2 days with no success. Could someone help a newbie, please ? I have a dependant variable which is diameter of shell, and two factors which are level on the beach (3 levels 'B', 'E' and 'H') and a hydrodynamics indice (3 levels 1, 2 and 3) To study diameter variations according to these factors, I may use

barplot with a probability density curve
Dear all, I am making a barplot as following: barplot(c(1,2,3,5,2,3,1),names.arg=c("100","200","300","400","500","600","700"),xlab="diameter",ylab="flow",main="some title",space=0.1) I am also trying to add a probability density curve, however using lines(density(c(1,2,3,5,2,3,1))) does not give

problem with comparing a part of string with whole string
Hi all, I got one problem with comparing strings like if any string is like "*RIGHT, EPICARDIUM: FOCUS, GRAY-WHITE, SINGLE, APPROX 0.6 CM IN DIAMETER*." and i have to compare "*GRAY-WHITE*" with the above string or otherwise i have to compare " *TUMOR BENIGN*" this string with "*MEDULLRY TUMOR BENIGN,TYP PHEOCHROMOCYTOMA*" i

selfStart function problem
Hello, list, I am making a self-starting nonlinear function to model the relation of tree height (H) and diameter (D) in a forest stand. The function I am trying is H=a*exp[b*(D+5.8)^(-c)]. To calculate the initial estimates of the parameters, I linearized the formula by taking logarithms and fixing the parameter c=1. Then I calculated the initial estimates of a and b using lm() on the

if problem in function
Dear all, I have written a function for calculating the volume of a tree (=trad) or snag (=h?gst). The included volume regreesion model includes ten parameter values, which are tree species specific. bj?rk.formh?jd.pars is an object which includes the parameter values (parameter set) for birch (=bj?rk). There is one row per tree in the data object. > relev.kols[1:5,

R Error/Warning Messages with library(MASS) using glm.
Hi there, I have been having trouble running negative binomial regression (glm.nb) using library MASS in R v2.15.0 on Mac OSX. I am running multiple models on the variables influencing the group size of damselfish in coral reefs (count data). For total group size and two of my species, glm.nb is working great to deal with overdispersion in my count data. For two of my species, I am getting a

How to put factor variables in an nls formula ?

Help with Bartlett's test on linear model
Hi all, I would like to test the homoegeneity of variances between several linear model for some analysis of covariance. It seems that the Bartlett's test is a good test to use but I am having problem using with linear model and I cannot find any examples on the internet. There are some examples for comparisons of variances but not linear models. If I take the hellung data set, which is

create and save a simulated dataset
Hello, I am trying to learn how to create a simulated dataset of a forest stand: I must simulate 10 stands, for each of the stands I have been creating a random number of trees. For each tree I should create a random diameter. The problem I have is that I cannot use a matrix because the length of the three items is different. I was trying with list but I have no clue on how to make a dataset out

[Bridge] [PATCH 1/1] bridge: fix message_age_timer calculation
This changes the message_age_timer calculation to use the BPDU's max age as opposed to the local bridge's max age. This is in accordance with section 8.6.2.3.2 Step 2 of the 802.1D-1998 sprecification. With the current implementation, when running with very large bridge diameters, convergance will not always occur even if a root bridge is configured to have a longer max age. Tested successfully on bridge diameters of ~200. Signed-off-by: Chris Healy <cphealy at gmail.com> --- net/bridge/br_stp.c | 2 +- 1 file changed, 1 insertion(+), 1 deletion(-) diff --git a/ne...
