a VM does not get dhcp
...s on the same subnet, and another box similar, also two NICs on one subnet, all four NICs are on the same subnet. Now, that second box has also a virtual NIC (libvirtd's bridge route mode) and VMs guests are using it, traffic to that virtual net is routed via 1st real NIC. This second box dhcrelays to the first box(dhcpd). I see box-dhcrelay forwards to box-dhcpd, I see box-dhcpd receives and offers a lease but that VM guest does not get it. I have policy routing manually set in place so both boxes can ping each other all NICs. (including virtual NIC on the box-dhcrelay) Moreover, that...

Need advices setting up a Proxy arp and DHCRelay router
...m trying to make a Firewall and a traffic shaper for all the PCs in my room. Because i don''t have access to the DHCP server from my department and i can not use a NAT in my room because all the IPs have to be public in all the department, i have thought in use a Proxy ARP router with a DHCRelay...BUT there are problems like i canĀ“t predict what are the IPs given by the DHCP server and i can not make routes in the router to say that the IPs X, Y and Z are behind the router. So..It is possible to have a proxy arp router with a dhcrelay without knowing what are the IPs given to my firewa...

dhcrelay on router

This net (172.16.1.0) shall be connected to 172.16.2.0 using the other NIC 172.16.2.1 (eth0, not in DNS). Attached to it is my WLAN access point (ymir, 172.16.2.12). And this is what happens: #> dhcrelay -i eth0 adept.mgr #> tcpdump -i any port bootpc or port bootps 09:42:09.996479 172.16.1.12.bootpc > 255.255.255.255.bootps: xid:0x960f0000 flags:0x8000 [|bootp] 09:42:09.997009 surtur.mgr.bootps > adept.mgr.bootps: (request) xid:0x960f0000 flags:0x8000 G:172.16.2.1 ether 0:9:5b:68:19:fb...

configuring dhcp-relay / Shorewall
In our LAN a Linux-router connects 2 subnets. On this router dhcrelay is running. For several reasons we have to run a firewall on this box. But what is the right way to configure dhcrelay using Shorewall??? Thanks. -- Ad Koster <lidad@zeelandnet.nl>

Hy there, i have a centos (4.?) Box with nightly yum update enabled. Last night, it did an upgrade to 4.7 leading to several problem i.e. not respawning the dhcrelay, which is needed on this box. pxe weirdness
I know that this is not a pxelinux/syslinux question (yet), but I am having a weird issue with a HP ML370. It is using HP UNDI PXE 2.1 (build 082) v 3.1.15 I successfully get an IP address from my DHCP server, but the machine fails when it attempts to make it's TFTP connection with: "PXE-E32 - TFTP Open timeout" It never gets the pxelinux.0 file. The odd thing I noticed was

Followup to "pxe weirdness" in syslinux archives
...oned in the "pxe weirdness" thread in the archives: http://syslinux.zytor.com/archives/2003-July/002229.html I couldn't find any followups to the issue. Was it a misconfiguration error? My setup is similar to James': I'm attempting to do a PXE install using DHCP sent via dhcrelay. I get the right IP, netmask, etc. but get two gateway IPs in the order of dhcrelay_ip default_gateway_ip.
