how to enable Flow Control on CentOS?
Hi, I have an interesting situation with one of our switches. It's a D-Link DGS-3100, 24 port 10/100/1000 Layer 2 Managed switch with some CentOS servers connected to it. On many of the servers I need to disable Flow Control on the switch's ports otherwise the CentOS server's doesn't connect to the switch. i.e. the Switch indicates that the LAN cable is unplugged a...

ridiculous slow gigabit transfer, faster with VNC
...This is very consistent. A twist is that if a VNC client is open from the win32 desktop to the opensolaris box the estimated transfer time via samba from opensolaris to win32 drops right down to about 4 min. Much better, but still nowhere near the FTP. I have also tried swapping between a D-Link DGS-1008D switch and a Netgear GS105 switch with no difference. Since the FTP is very consistently acheiving 50megabytes/sec, I don't think it can be blamed on a hardware fault. However the problem doesn't appear to be just samba either, as the slowness also occurs with scp, albiet scp is muc...

What makes live migration so slow?
...live migration between 2 physical hosts with XEN 3.1.2. XEN 3.1.2 (virtualization) is included in centOS 5.5 during the installation phase, so everything is handled by default. A third host with Ubuntu OS serves as the network file system. The three hosts are connected by one D-link gigabit switch (DGS-2205). The downtime of live migration is still very long. If we measure the downtime by Ping command, one migration event of a guest VM (domU) gives a loss of 30-50 packets. (should be over half a minute). Could anyone know the potential problem? Thank you in advance! The xend-config.sxp is at...

Some observations on live migration & solution solicitation
...ing XEN live migration on 3 physical hosts with XEN 4.0.1 pvops Ubuntu 10.10 (2.6.35-22). The kernel is compiled and built with default selections plus the support for ext4 file system as well as the support for network file system server. The three hosts are connected by one D-link gigabit switch (DGS-2205). I find that: 1) If the 3 hosts are booted about the same time, the live migration is working. (Working in this sense means that the downtime is within 1 minute.) However, between any of the two hosts, the downtime is asymmetric. In one direction, the downtime is constantly short, measured...

Call quality problems
I'm having difficulty with an Asterisk system. The external party has very good call quality, but the internal party hears clipping and drop outs. The WAN comes in from the Cisco IAD and into a LAN switch (DLink DGS-1005D w/ 802.1p) where the two public IPs are switched to different devices. One device is a FireBox device controlling a separate LAN with VPNs. The other device is eth0 on the Asterisk system. On the Asterisk eth1 is a 3Com 2226 LAN switch which connects Polycom IP501 phones. There are no...

Re: Problem with ToolBook (16bit)
Hello, I browsed for toolbook-related problems, but I did not find a thread where a solution is offered. I also have an application (DGS Phrasen), which I recently added to the AppDB, which has a toolbook-related problem, namely the error message <<cannot find L"C:\\windows\\system32\\TB60.exe">>. Did you find any solution to the problem in this thread?

Samba + Bonding = Terrible Performance
...formance resumes to full speed. I can pull the cable in the middle of a transfer and it will go to half speed, or I can restart the transfer. It is *ALWAYS* slower when both cards are active. An 80MB file might take approx 50 seconds with both active and 15 with only one active. The switch is a DGS-1224T which supports trunking/channel bonding and other servers haven't show problems. Again, NFS, scp, ssh, netperf all remain unaffected regardless of 1 or 2 cards active. Samba IS bound to the bond0 interface and only that interface. I haven't been able to find much on google/forums ab...

Bonding and network cards
Hi, I have been playing this weekend with bonding on PCI netcards and found that all of netcards I have, but old 3com, do not support MII. So bonding is not going to happen with them. Do you have some pci netcards supporting MII successfully running on bonging? Thanks, David Hrb??
