e-pub or downloadable xhtml of the manuals?
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/ This document has provided more information to me than I can adequately express, and as masochistic as it sounds, I'd kinda like to pop a copy on my nook and devour it. along with any of the other docs hosted on the samba website. has anyone prepared epubs of the documentation? if not epubs, than at least xhtml files in a zip

Apache, Rails, FastCGI, Ruby, slow
...g, Typo was still slow. Ruby.exe itself takes up 25-40MB of RAM at any given moment which I find to be massive. I''m using the Typo trunk as it''s the only version that works with 1.1. What is going on here? Surely I don''t want my hosting to be like this, slow and RAM-devouring. A PHP blog script certainly doesn''t use this many resources, does it? -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

the large dataset problem
Dear useRs, I recently began a job at a very large and heavily bureaucratic organization. We're setting up a research office and statistical analysis will form the backbone of our work. We'll be working with large datasets such the SIPP as well as our own administrative data. Due to the bureaucracy, it will take some time to get the licenses for proprietary software like Stata. At this time there are about 10 users domain - that samba should be bored, but it is not. Installed clean system. No other processes devouring memory. Is 12GB of RAM is not enough for samba? Is it safe to delete /bin/[ && /usr/bin/false?
Greetings, Well, I en devoured to install a copy of 7 as an effort to upgrade one of our servers. After installing a few ports, I began to notice: [: -le: argument expected messages being emitted during the configure/make process. I've already invested a fair amount of time on this upgrade, and /really/ don't want to wipe the disk(s) and start all over. This issue is not new to me - see

An old ld-linux.so hole
Section I. Overview Hello, About a half year ago there was some rumour on bugtraq concerning a buffer overflow in Linux dynamic linkers, ld.so and ld-linux.so. You can take a look at the beginning of the thread at http://www.geek-girl.com/bugtraq/1997_3/0089.html to refresh old memories; I''ll capitalize anyway. Briefly, there exists a buffer overrun in ld-linux.so versions 1.7.14,

Dispatch.fcgi h-e-double hockey sticks...
Hello Everyone ~ Last week I started having a dispatch.fcgi process go out of control on my Linux server. If I don''t catch it the process will eat my RAM, and devour my swap file until the machine becomes non-responsive. I am running Lighttpd and have not had any issues until lately. The logs are not telling me anything useful, and as a quick fix I am running the site using Mongrel,

Hybrid graphics, Wine with Bethesda games
...t let me force-switch to the Radeon, but then Options of Oblivion saw NVidia 7900 instead! How to have Ubuntu and the games see my good card is question 1. Now running the games is not really possible either: with Oblivion (chipset for graphics) the intro movie crawled by so slowly, stuttering and devouring processor speed, that I never finished waiting for the menu to appear, and even shutting down the virtual desktop was not so easy. With Fallout 3 I got to the menu at good speed, although the LIVE button there only halted the animation, but when I tried to actually start a game, it crashed. And aga...

Tutorial question
Hi, wxWidgets sources are good to understand the main subject of wxRuby but if you dont know C++ it stucks somewhere else. wxPython sources are good sources and syntax is closer to ruby but it is not ruby at the end. wxRuby sources are also good but i don''t think there are enough sources. I use wiki to understand and i closely look at tutorials, i use samples to solve anything on my own.

survreg 3-way interaction

What do you mean by "cannot handle" -- does the package print a message "no 3 way interactions", gives wrong answers, your laptop catches on fire when you run it, ....? Also, make sure you read

Postfix and choice of RBL
Hi, I'm managing several mail servers running CentOS 7, Postfix and Dovecot. SpamAssassin is filtering mail nicely, but I'm considering using RBL (blacklists) to take some load off the servers. General question to those of you who use RBL. Which lists do you recommend using? Cheers, Niki -- Microlinux - Solutions informatiques durables 7, place de l'?glise - 30730 Montpezat Site :

segfault with grid and null unit (PR#8014)
Full_Name: Jonathan Paisley Version: 2.1.1 OS: Mac OS X 10.4.2 Submission from: (NULL) (81.178.107.67) I was following an example from library/grid/doc/grid.pdf ("Introduction to grid") and had the following code, where I'd mis-typed 1,3 instead of 1,2 as the first arguments to grid.layout. Sourcing this code causes the R GUI to crash. I've enclosed a partial backtrace from
