Problems with reshape2 on Mac
Hi! I updated to reshape2 yesterday and tried to make it work. Unfortunately, it mainly throws error messages at me (good thing it's reshape2 1.0 and not reshape 2.0). The most recent is: Error in match.fun(FUN) : object 'id' not found When I manually create an object 'id', it says: Error in get(as.character(FUN), mode = "function", envir = envir) : object

negative numerics in []
Hello, I'm a bit puzzled by what looks (to me) like a discrepancy between documentation and implementation. The documentation for [] says this about the indices: "Numeric values are coerced to integer as by as.integer (and hence truncated towards zero)." > as.integer(-3.1) [1] -3 Good. But: > x <- c(1,2,3) > x[-3.1] [1] 1 2 3 Given the documentation, I'd have

[RFC] Adding a char set converter to Support library
Hi! On z/OS, there is the need to convert strings from EBCDIC to UTF-8 and vice versa. Using the POSIX iconv functions has some challenges, so I created a small wrapper around this functionality to get the same result on all platforms. This functionality is required for reading and writing GOFF object files and can also be used in the frontend. I put up the code on Phabricator

R-question
Hello Colleagues, I programmed in SAS for 3 years and would like to switch to a not so costly software product. Hence I started to evaluate R, and my first test look promising. However I have some question: 1. Is it possible to query R files by SQL internally on data frames (not on a database) and how is the syntax (I have the RODBC package installed). I would like to extract year, Quarter,

Doing ZFS rollback with preserving later created clones/snapshot?
Hi. Is it possible on Solaris 10 5/09, to rollback to a ZFS snapshot, WITHOUT destroying later created clones or snapshots? Example: --($ ~)-- sudo zfs snapshot rpool/ROOT at 01 --($ ~)-- sudo zfs snapshot rpool/ROOT at 02 --($ ~)-- sudo zfs clone rpool/ROOT at 02 rpool/ROOT-02 --($ ~)-- LC_ALL=C sudo zfs rollback rpool/ROOT at 01 cannot rollback to ''rpool/ROOT at 01'': more

Multiple CPU HowTo in Linux?
Hello all, I upgraded my R workstation, and to my dismay, only one core appears to be used during intensive computation of a bioconductor function. What I have now is two dual-core Xeon 5160 CPUs and 10 GB RAM. When I fully load it, top reports about 25% user, 75% idle and 0.98 short-term load. The archives gave nothing helpful besides mention of snow. I thought of posting to HPC, but this system

Memory mapping assumptions in RuntimeDyld
Hi! Implementing the Memory::allocateMappedMemory() function on z/OS, I see a failure in the AArch64 COFF test case. The test case has 3 sections. For each section, Memory::allocateMappedMemory() is called to reserve memory. If the distance between the pointers gets too large, then the test case fails. It can be reliable produced with a distance of 1MB between the pointers. An easy way to

[PATCH][TOOLS] libxc: mmap fixes for BSD
Hi! On BSD, mmap()ing files works on on-disk files but not on pseudo filesystems like kernfs or procfs. Therefore, attached patch mmap()s anonymous memory. Linux equivalents are sysfs and procfs to above BSD''s pseudo-filesystems. On Linux, mmap is implemented for sysfs but it is questionable to me how write operations work since (most) files in sysfs have static content. So this patch
