NMB problem
I'm configuring Samba on a Red Hat Linux 7.2 server, for access from a
Windows 2000 client. My server name is DEMENTIA, and it's IP address is
192.168.0.5. I've confirmed with ifconfig that the server's broadcast
address is 192.168.0.255.
I'm having a problem with NMB that I seem to have isolated to the
following symptoms -
After starting NMBD, I can lookup the server name

Dear R helpers,
I have a curious problem, which is that a program I have written in R
crashes R, unpredictably. When I say that the program crashes R, I mean
that it causes R to terminate, completely. But, the operating system
(Windows) continues OK.
The program loops around a randomForest regression. I am trying to use
randomForest to predict the diagnosis for a set of patients with dementia.

Jonathan,
Is there any possibility for you to send me the data, and/or the code? I
and others have seen similar problems before, but not reproducible on the
current version, at least on the NT and Linux boxes that I have access to.
As Thomas said, it's difficult to nail these kinds of problems. Having
reproducible data and code, at least, can help. (It's no help that I'm no

Problem with parsing a dataset - help earnestly sought
Dear fellow R-help members,
I hope to seek your advice on how to parse/manage a dataset with hundreds of
columns. Two examples of these columns, 'cancer.problems', and
'neuro.problems' are depicted below. Essentially, I need to parse this into
a useful dataset, and unfortunately, I am not familiar with perl or any such
language.

a few questions about relaying
Hi there list,
I have a few questions here. First of all, can I relay an mp3 shoutcast
relay even though I am using ices2 for the ogg format? Secondly, if the
first question is a yes how would I set my server to be used for dialup
streams. In other words I would have to decrease the bit rate to
accomodate the dial up users. Could this be done with out causing any
hard ships to what I already

I'm not a Mac user, thus, my question is:
What is the best way to listen to .ogg files with a Mac? In both Mac 9

URGENT! Shellshock fix DOES NOT fix the bug on CentOS 5.4
Good afternoon!
After applying the latest bash RPM listed at
http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-announce/2014-September/020594.html :
The fixed RPM (bash-3.2-33.el5_10.4.x86_64.rpm) DOES work just fine on
CentOS 5.10. However, it DOES NOT work on CentOS 5.4. That is, bash runs
fine, but IS STILL VULNERABLE TO SHELLSHOCK!

Change time causes profile corruption
Greetings,
I have Samba 3.0.9 running on SuSE 9.2, 2.6.5-7.111-smp kernel. SAMBA is a
PDC using OpenLDAP as a passdb backend. Workstations are combination w2k
SP3, SP4, and Windows XP SP1.
The problem I have is with profile syncronization. If a user obtains a file
that has a blank modified time, Windows substitutes Jan 13, 2038 for the
date. When the user logs out, the file is copied to the

Data Stale issue
Hi Charles,
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I should have given you a bit of background in my last message but I'm actually doing this for my grandmother's benefit! She has Dementia and lives on her own so we want to be notified if she has a power cut... I'd hate to think she might be stumbling around in the dark (which has happened before)!

dnsbl feature for dovecot
dnsbl's are a popular method to prevent listed ips from making
connections to mta software.
cf. postscreen_dnsbl_sites in postfix
Would it be possible to introduce such a feature in dovecot, so that
connections can be denied
based on a dnsbl lookup (where the precise dnsbls used are configurable)?
