Update successful. Thanks.
My desktop updated without a hitch... well, actually, I ran out of
disk space after the download completed, so had to clear some space,
but the update process continued from where I left off without a hitch
-- and that's hardly CentOS's fault. I've still got to update my
laptop, but am a little leery, because I think I've a got a hard drive
failing.
At any rate, thank you *again*

windows7 and samba 3.4.7 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Is there a specific way of doing the smb.conf to make windows7 join the
domain?
was able to make windows7 join in one instance but when is not
successful in logging into the domain using a domain user and also
cannot add a domain user to the local machine.
From my initial attempts, I was able to join the win7 machine but after
I upgraded to 3.4.7 everything seems to have gone to hell.

The smallest office has 19 stations. The largest has 25.
We must have overhead paging
Each office is satisfied having 7 concurrent calls MAX.
Have we enough info to ask:
1) 1 server or several?
2) Channel bank or not?
3) Type of card for the server?
4) Am I having delusions of grandeur?
We can talk with anyone off list or On giving much more details of our
project thoughts. Surely someone (Many of you) are in the same boat.

Thanks everyone...

Authentication Failure
Probably a newbie question.... sorry.
Did a deluser a week or so ago, but didn't remove any of the users
files. I re-enabled the user via useradd with the -u and set the uid
the same as it was before. Now when I try and log the user into his
mail via Thunderbird, /var/log/messages reports
dovecot(pam_unix)[17259]: authentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0

user / machine / group scripts, some work some don't
Hi List,
I have some issues with user manager for domains (srvtools.exe from MS)
and the scripts mentioned in the subject. The examples from the samba
howto collection seem to cause serious issues here. I am on debian etch
and tried to create my own scripts but till now to now avail. With the
examples from the docs I could add groups, but could not add users to
groups. There was the option -A

Partial derivatives of a matrix with respect to a single element

however, I'm always looking for GNU solutions to old procedure$, if you
get my drift. I've read and used the derivative functions in R, and
could (probably) write a lengthy routine to duplicate this solution, but
if there's a shortcut, I have no delusions about my own laziness and
will greatly appreciate your input.

Using rsync to mirror directories where root owns file, using non-root user to initiate session
I have spent a day researching and attempting to debug this issue. I am hoping someone can tell me how (or disabuse me of the delusion that it's possible) to do the following:
- Mirror the contents of a directory on one server to a remote server where there are diverse ownership and permissions
- File and directory ownership on both the source and destination servers would normally prevent the user account initiating the rsy...

Trying to grasp the difference between local variables and instance variables/

or is it a whole lot deeper than that?

Trouble during classicupgrade
Hello,
I need to do a classic migration on a machine which has until now been
running samba as an old NT4-style PDC. I made a copy of that machine in
a VM to test the process. Until now, things don't work quite right. I
was following the classic upgrade howto from wiki.samba.org. I was using
the method with internal DNS. Classicupgrade itself ran without errors,
I followed the steps after

unable to compile llvm with gcc 4.7.4
...p. Has
there been any interest in looking at a single compile build? I don't
exactly know the limitations, but my naive thinking is that C++14 compiler
source parsed by C++14 capable compiler and codegen'd to C99 (or older)
source should make it compilable by older compilers. Is this just a
delusion or an actually useful idea?
Regards,
Kevin

fitted probabilities in multinomial logistic regression are identical for each level
I was hoping for some advice regarding possible explanations for the
fitted probability values I obtained for a multinomial logistic
regression. The analysis aims to predict whether Capgras delusions
(present/absent) are associated with group (ABH, SV, homicide; values
= 1,2,3,), controlling for previous violence. What has me puzzled is
that for each combination the fitted probabilities are identical. I
haven't seen this in the worked examples I have come across and was
interested to...

Procedure number out of range
Hi,
I've recently upgraded our Samba 3.2.5 to 3.5.5 from Debian testing repositary. This because of a future Windows 7 roll out. Installation and all the server stuff seemed to go fine (all deamons started) but when some of our (not all) users try to log on they get an error message saying "Procedure number is out of range". There is no difference between the XP clients that users
