Help deeded: Does a R graphical function return something special?
Hi All, When I tried to catch a returned value from a R graphical function or command (e.g., plot, lines, points, abline, title, xyplot, etc.), I always get a NULL value if it is executed correctly. For example: x <- c(1,2,3,4,5,9,13,19,36) plot.Comm <- plot(x) # plot.Comm <- try(eval(plot(x))) then plot.Comm has a NULL value. Obviously, this is not a good way to check if or

Sick and wrong!
Karanbir, No one should ever have to go through that. I am sorry to hear that someone has done that evil deed to you. May they be forgiven, but know the pain that they have caused you and repent of their sins. NetBIOS Hostname
...ided to enter a NetBIOS Hostname, big mistake. A message popped up warning me that entering a NetBIOS Hostname would create a new UID and Clients may no longer be able to connect. The Message was correct.... However, (Design Flaw) at that point there was no way for me to back out or cancel, so the deed was done. How or where do you remove or change that option...? [LLVMdev] Tail call optimization deeds
Hi Arnold and Anton, Sorry I have been ignoring your emails on this topic. It's an important task and I really need sometime to think about it (and talk to Chris about it!) But this has been an especially hectic week. I am also going to vacation soon so I am not sure when I would get around to it. If Chris has time, I am sure he has lots to say on this topic. :-) Otherwise, please

about ulimit -n 1M
...max shows a value of 65536. For normal user, it seems the default maximum of RLIMIT_NOFILE is 4096, which is a much smaller value than that is required by glusterfs. I'm wondering what's the impact of RLIMIT_NOFILE has to the performance and scalability of glusterfs. Does glusterfs in deed needs to open a large number of files when my DHT aggregates ~100 machines and ~500 volumes? I'm not sure if I should increase RLIMIT_NOFILE to a large number for every user when everyone needs to run booster in order to access glusterfs. Thanks, - Wei

yum update for 5.0 ==> 5.1
I have read multipe messages here from people upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1, presumably using "yum update" to do the deed. When I do "yum update" on my (I think) fully updated Centos 5 system I get no updates. Am I just being impatient (i.e., the updates haven't yet been pushed out) or am I somehow missing them? How can you capture the input and output of a serial port in wine
...us about this. I'm trying to reverse-engineer a really neato-device that hooks up to the serial port and has Windows software. I've figured out the protocol the device sends; I'm just not sure how the device is initialized. So I'd love to capture the Windows software doing the dirty deed.. and WINE is IMHO just the tool. So, question is: How do you capture serial ports transmissions and/or receives in WINE? David Bronaugh

User Manager Tools
I loaded the NT4 Domain Manager tools and tried to use UserMgr to add some users. The add users sections of the menu are grayed out and I cannot do the deed. I've tried a variety of things. The machine was a member of the domain, I was logged in a administrator, which seemed to map as root in Samba, but still all I could do is look, not touch. Any ideas what I did wrong this time? Thanks, Michael

Confirmation of resource completeness.
...have some way of confirming that all manifests have run against as chosen group of hosts. We are just about to use puppet to perform post build configuration on nearly 200 machines and one final sanity check requirement from the bosses is that we have an easy way of seeing that puppet has done the deed on each server. I have googled, read what I can find on the puppet web site and played with puppet show including the database to no avail. Has anyone else had to produce proof that puppet is working and if so how have they done it? Thanks in anticipation. Guy --~--~---------~--~----~-------...

I want to contribute to the wiki
Greetings, I just signed up on the CentOS Wiki as user ScottDowdle. I'd like to update one page and add a new page... so when a AdminGroup user notices and has the time to do the deed, please allow me the following: 1) Update - http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/BrokenVserver I would like to add an explanation on why some VPSes do not include yum. I'm a long time member of the OpenVZ community and know the reason. 2) New Page - In the HowTos -> Virtualization secti...

Windows doesn't show Samba group names, only SIDs
...I have a problem with Samba / LDAP running on SLES-9. This has been running well for a while until this week - now Windows workstations don't show group names anymore (editing Access Rights, for example, shows a list of group SIDs instead). I checked whether some software was updated - and in deed it was. OpenLDAP and Samba were both updated two weeks ago - unfortunately nobody can confirm whether the problem occured only after the update. I guess I could try and revert to older versions of SuSE packages but I thought I'd ask here first - maybe it's trivial and I'm just blind......

I've also tried 3.0.9 and got the same results. Any thoughts on what I could try next? -c. So shines a good deed in a weary world.

[LLVMdev] Removing -tailcallopt?
Thanks for improving this! Since no good deed can go unpunished, could you also update the LangRef and codegen documents to describe the new state of the world? It might also be nice to mention there that tail calls can be needed for correctness in addition to performance and how users can guarantee that a call will be transformed, since both...

...new image > for you. It''ll still have the bug but it will at least include the > local source changes I am trying out. That will make testing a bit > easier on me. > Well there are a couple of things to take into consideration. First, I _did_ get some dom0 crashes so that in deed the opensolaris xvm code could be responsible for this Second, xen version on opensolaris is still 3.1.4, which may also explain the difference and the fact that you can''t reproduce the crash on CentOS (must be 3.3 ?) Third, there has been a heavy development in opensolaris on he virtua...
