'Official' NT4-like domain decommission?
There are ''official'' plan (by Samba Team, but also by Microsoft) to officially ''decommission'' support for NT-like domains? Thanks. -- dott. 3 domains, full trust between all, move samba server join to other domain
Hello all, I have a Samba file server running that is member of a windows AD domain. Later I added 2 more domains with a full trust relationship between all 3. (all are Windows AD) Everything works perfectly, wbinfo -u/-g shows all users/groups from all 3 domains, and ACLs work perfectly. I now want to decommission 2 of the domains, and leave only 1 domain. Lets say they are: domain1old

Decommissioning old PDC
I'm trying to decommission our PDC which is running on some older hardware and migrate it's functionality to one of our two currently operating BDCs for the domain. The three servers have nearly identical configurations with only differences in file and printer shares and a couple attributes like "wins support" and "domain master". They all have identical netlogon

Dual Computer Names
Does anyone know if there is a way to setup a Samba server to respond to 2 different names on the same or different IP addresses? I currently have two servers with two different names. I would like to decommission the first server while still allowing users to access the second server with the same name they were using to access the first server. Thank You, Jason Williard E-MAIL

Proxying from one server to another
Hi All, I'm trying to find a software package to do the following sip proxy work: I've an A*k server A that needs to be decommissioned, from the USA, and replaced by server B, in the UK. Both servers are on public internet IPs. Whilst the client migration happens, I want to divert all the Register traffic from Server A to Server B to catch any clients still left out there.

g729 codec help
Hi, We added more g729 licenses today that we bought from digium on Friday. Since we had previously installed their licenses and had them running we just ran the register command along with the new key that was given to us. After we restarted asterisk NONE of the g729's worked even though if we do a show g729 it shows the new correct total licenses. In the licenses folder we see both license

Any ETAs on when the APT repositories are going to be updated with LLVM 3.8 & 3.9 builds?

Updating Samba AD from 4.1 to latest stable
Hi All, After reading the list for a while I have a question myself. I have the task of upgrading a couple of systems and one of them is the office AD infrastructure from a Samba-4.1 installation to the latest stable version. I already did a concept of proof by incrementally compiling versions 4.2/3/4/5/etc to the then latest stable 4.10 and it seemed to work out OK but was a lot of work. I had a

Questions about adding a DC
Hi, In reading https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory#Joining_the_Active_Directory_as_a_Domain_Controller it says "If the other DCs are Samba DCs and were provisioned with --use-rfc2307, you Should add --option='idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes' to the join command" So does this mean that rfc2307 should not be used if the other DCs are MS

NT4 Migration Question
A client has an existing NT4 domain with several NT4 servers. Two of the NT4 Servers function as a PDC and a BDC. We are installing Samba-3 on SuSE 9.0 Pro as a PDC with an LDAP backend, and decommissioning the NT4 PDC at the same time. So far, so good. We can also rebuild the old PDC hardware as a Samba-3 on SuSE 9.0 Pro BDC. Unfortunately however, the NT4 BDC cannot be removed from the network for another six months, as it hosts a vertical application key to the business and used every day by some...

Upgrading from old 4.1 sernet-samba AD to source release with AD
Hi guys, I have sernet-samba-client-4.1.21-11.el6.x86_64 with 5 DC's running in AD mode and I need to look at upgrading them to the latest source version of Samba with AD support. All servers are running Centos 6.x and the same Samba release. I see the Wiki mentions "Upgrade A DC and join it to the domain again" however I'm not sure in terms of upgrading how this process will

Windows 2003 AD (2003 level) Replacement
It's been well over a year since I tried doing this and, at that time, it was not a simple install. File replication didn't seem to work, some accounts didn't show up in the new server, and the internal DNS seemed a bit problematic. The goal was to decommission a 2003 AD server (2003 level) and replace it with Samba4. Exchange 2000 exists in this domain but not much else. I have

AD migration questions.
Hi, I have a client that is in the process of decommissioning a SBS 2008 server. They have moved email off of the server and shutdown Exchange. The machine at et.redhat.com is going to be decommissioned soon, and so I have arranged alternate hosting for these two git repositories. As of now you should use: http://git.annexia.org/?p=febootstrap.git;a=summary (web interface) git clone git://git.annexia.org/git/febootstrap.git http://git.annexia.org/?p=libguestfs.git;a=summary (web interface) git clone

Samba Migration from 2.2.7a to 3.0.14a
Hi, I'm new to this list so please do not flame me if this is not an appropriate question. I would like to migrate from an old Server running Samba 2.2.7a as Domain controller to a new one running version 3.0.14a. The new server (with a new hostname) should be the DC in the future as the old server is to be decommissioned. Now I am looking a good HOWTO or similar document describing

Migrating to new hardware
I'm looking for confirmation that what I am about to do will work. My intent is to decommission the existing Samba PDC hardware and put in its place the new hardware. I intend on having the users see no difference, in terms of what they have/had and will continue to have available. Right now I will be copying everything from the /etc/samba directory into the same on the new server, moving

Migration from Windows to Samba4
I want to replace a Windows 2003R2 DC by a Samba4 install. I installed Samba 4.0.10 and successfully joined the Windows domain. (after applying a small patch to join.py) The replication works fine, and the new DC now hosts all fileshares and successfully authenticates users and computers. Transfer of fsmo roles was also successful. The old Windows DC is still active. I want to decommission
