removing/redirecting the Projects page
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, We've decided to decomission the (old and unused) trac instance on projects.centos.org. We'll just redirect to git.centos.org instead (where all the fun happens). So, what to do with the http://wiki.centos.org/Projects page ? deleting it ? redireting to http://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup (as now most of the things outside of

Promote samba-3 BDC to PDC
Hi, We have an old domain with a samba-3 PDC and LDAP backend in our HQ and two BDC in our branch offices. Since we don't use the domain in our HQ anymore and one of the branches will be moved to our new domain (2003/2008) I'm thinking about decomissioning the PDC and promote both BDCs as PDC for their branch offices and networks. I would also get rid of LDAP. Changing the backend to tdbsam and converting the data with pdbedit isn't that problem but how to do it all without impact? :) Cheers Matthias -- --- Matthias Grimm Systemadministra...

DC Upgrade Compiled to Package
Hi all- Our domain controllers are old and hand-crafted and we are looking to replace them with the latest version (as well as make them easily redeployable). Our current version is 2:4.0.6-12 (compiled from source and we hope to jump up to the latest packaged version as available in the Ubuntu Xenial repositories. I've seen this page: https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Updating_Samba and

Samba 4.2 AD member accesible by name but not by IP
Well, this is the most complicated part. I have Samba 4.2 AD DC with samba internal DNS and Server 2003 AD DC which should be decommisioned soon. Everything worked for several months. The odd part is that suddenly Server 2003 DNS lost all its zones and Samba 4.2 was the only reliably working DC. I seized FSMO roles after forcibly decomissioned Server 2003. I'm not sure that everything in my

Remote update OS from 6 to 7
Hello all... I have a remote machine running C6. I desire to update it to C7. Not possible to be on-site. Can I copy the Everything ISO for C7 to the machine, mount -o loop C7.Everything.iso /media/cdrom then do a "yum upgrade" ? Will that work? The server is using software raid. Thanks Jerry

Standalone Samba in a Win2008 DC environment, transition to samba
There is a network with windows 2008 AD DC and about 9 workstations plus some printers. The plan is to decomission the Win 2008 DC and reuse the hardware for other purposes at a later time (may be a samba AD DC, not important now). Samba Standalone is to take the role of a File and Print Server in this existing network. Questions: 1. Can Samba 4.5 "standalone" be started temporarily in

DC Upgrade Compiled to Package
Marc- Thanks for the advice. In regards to the FSMO roles, when we were originally testing, we found that in our version, FSMO roles could not be transferred (or even seized). Would you recommend adding the new versioned DC to the existing domain and attempting a seize on the new version once the old FSMO owner is offline? What about stopping samba on the old FSMO owner and copying the TDB

[cfe-dev] Revisiting our informal policy to support two versions of MSVC

Hi, “clang-x64-ninja-win7” was switched to VS2015. It is red now due to a few PDB tests and one sanitizer test. We can try to print a better error message here, but it looks like regardless someone will need physical access to the bot to determine what the problem is with DIA. The new error message is: llvm-pdbdump: DIA Error: An unknown error has occurred. HRESULT: 0x800700C1: Calling NoRegCoCreate which is more or less what I expected. The specific HResult is kind of interesting, it maps to "msdia140.dll is not a valid Win32 application". I don't know if this means that it can't find the DLL, or that it did find the DLL and it's corrupt. Is

7.0 issues fixed? upgrade timing?
1. I have a realtek network card and am using a cable modem router. Does anyone know if fixes for problems with these (see below) have been backported from HEAD to RELENG_7? 2. Is this a good time to upgrade to RELENG_7? 3. I read a post last week that advised that 7.1 is a long way off. Appreciate any advice on use of ULE 3.0 and ZFS prior to 7.1 and a comment on what is holding up 7.1. Thanks

IP Phone recommendations?
Hey gang, I'm looking at escaping from a Nortel Meridian CISC system to Asterisk/Digium/SIP phones. I'm currently in the testing and proof of concept phase. I'm going to need a SIP phone and don't want to re-purchase and have "orphans" around. We currently run Nortel 7310 phones and they work great. I'm sort of overwhelmed by all of the different IP phones. I
