Getting results from a dead worker. example?
I''m having a little difficulty understanding how to retrieve results from deceased workers (from the documentation it seems that it is possible to do this). I pasted my simple test below. If anyone could point out what i should be doing differently i''d be very grateful. My test worker: class TestWorker < BackgrounDRb::Worker::RailsBase def do_work(args)

R_qsort decreasing =T
Hello, i'm using <R.h> & <Rmath.h>. What is the c equivalent to sort(x,deceasing=T) i.e. to get sort(x) i type R_qsort(x, 1, n), where do i set the decreasing=T flag ? More generally, is there a place where the functions in the R sources are documented ? Merge data frame with mispelling characters
Hello dear R-helpers, I'm working with R-2.15.2 on Windows 7 OS. I'm stucked with a merge of two data frames by characters. In each data frame I got two different list of names, that is my main-key to be merged. To figure out what I'm saying, I build up a modified "?merge" example, with errors by purpose: # Data for authors: authors <- data.frame( surname =

controlling colour in Trellis histogram
Hello. I am sorry for posting a (seemingly) simple question, but I have just spent 2 hours trying to find the answer, without success. I want to make a histogram with conditioning on a factor, using Trellis graphics. However, I do not want any colours (only black and white) either in the histograms or in the strip. There must be some simple argument but I can’t find it. Here is my code so

Suggestion - table of QoS mechanisms
Hi, A thought for the list. As I mentioned in another posting, there are a lot of QoS mechanisms out there. Linux supports some, but not all. Some patchsets add others, but don''t work for all kernels. There are also userland implementations, usually sitting in software routers, but there are other packages. Would it be helpful if I worked on a table of what''s out there for

retain class after merge
Dear All, is there a simple way to retain the class attribute of a column, if merging two data.frames? When merging the example data.frames form help(merge) I am unable to keep the class attribute as set before merging (see below). Two columns are assigned new classes before merge (myclass1, myclass2), but after merge the resulting column has class "character". best regards, Heinz

Maybe OT?
Hi all, I recently setup Samba to auth to Active Directory - wow do I feel like an alchemist for doing that - despite the deceased foul involved in getting this setup - it is now working very well. My problem comes in that logging from AD is constantly complaining about failed authentication. I assume that as the User ID field shows only the SID that AD can not (reverse) map the user - so

[PATCH] xen: drop anti-dependency on X86_VISWS
This seems to have been added in f0f32fccbffa to avoid a conflict arising from the long deceased ARCH_SETUP() macro and subsequently pushed down to the XEN option. As far as I can tell the conflict is no longer present and by dropping the dependency I was able to build a kernel which has both CONFIG_XEN and CONFIG_X86_VISWS enabled and boot it on Xen. I didn't try it on the VISWS platform.

X Servers xorg.conf file changing.
Twice now over the past year, I've had something edit the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file without user intervention. The machine in question is a 3 headed X-Terminal that displays the accelerator control system application for a medical proton accelerator, and operated by staff who do NOT have root or root like access (sudo) on the X-Term, as once it's configured, it should never need changing.
