NTFS Attributes
Hi There, Debian squeeze, samba 3.3.3-1 I am currently trying to use a samba partition to backup windows machines to, and am always warned that the destination does not support NTFS attributes, hidden attributes and system attributes. Are there any config options to enable these in samba? or does samba not support mapping these to something on the linux side? Any help or links to documentation

Htaccess management with GUI
My webhotel client wants to be able to manage password protection of their website with GUI. They need to create and destroy directories, set .htaccess authentication, and create usernames and passwords. There seem to be a number of tools that do this, more or less: http://www.debianhelp.co.uk/htaccessweb.htm However, I have not found any good comparisons or reviews. Has anyone tested this kind of tools? - Jussi

Have 2 DomU share a same Logical Volume
Hi xeners, I am trying to have 2 DomU share a single Logical Volume. I need that at least one of the DomU has read-write access to the LV. I have tried, but up to now, it only works if both DomU have read-only writes to the LV. That''s a problem for me, because I wanted to set up Nginx on a DomU, and Rails on another one, and have Nginx get read access to an LV that would hold the public

...so I'll check my longs. LVM shouldnt be affecting you though. I would recommend compiling and running the Debian maintainer's installation of samba even if you have to compile it yourself. And make sure you have everything necessary for full 2.4 support if you are running potato. Check www.debianhelp.org for an article that will give you an apt source for potato 2.4 compatibility packages. As for the oplocks - I have some similar messages in my logs, but no client problems due to them. I figured it was normal behavior for this misbehaving network.
