how can I stress a server?
Hi all, I have a server, with an Intel DG35EC motherboard, Q9300 CPU, 8GB Kingston DDRII RAM which can't take a lot of load. I have 4 XEN VPS's on there, which doesn't consume more than 4GBM RAM at this stage. Yet, the machine sky rockets at some times. I've moved the XEN VPS's to another server, with 4GM RAM, and it doesn't cause the same problems. So, apart f...

Running dovecot on embedded device?
...over each system (which is exactly what is happening now due to the fact that my isp offers only POP3). There will only be a few users (e.g. family members), and incomming mail will be fetched from the isp mailbox. The specs of the QNAP TS-212 are: * ARM Marvell Kirkwood 1.2GHz CPU * 256MB DDRII RAM Is this sufficient to run dovecot, and will the performance be acceptable? I'm not expecting something lightning fast, but something that is acceptable. Jef

Hard Reset Demo doesn't render textures
I've tried to run demo of Hard Reset and it has two big problems on Wine. First is that mouse isn't working. You get input only from keyboard but that can be solved with raw input patch. I used the one that is working with Deus Ex: Human Revolution: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6901628/raw2.patch but second is much worse. Basically almost all of the textures aren't rendered. It starts

[SO]HO Software RAID5 server: which implementation should I choice?
Hello, freebsd-stable. Does somebody use some software RAID5 on FreeBSD in real production system? I want to build storage server for my home: RAW photos, multi-layer PhotoShop files and FLAC-encoded music consume a lot of space, and they should be availible both from desktop & notebook. Also, all photo-content is unique, so I need some insuranse from single HDD crash. I understand,

Can this config sustain 30 users?
I have this server I need to put to work. The option I have is to make it work as a small office PBX with SIP users and a Digium E1 Card for PSTN service. 24 SIP users and one E1 card in an Intel 945board (533 Front side bus) with 1GB DDR 533mhz of ram, one Pentium Dual Core 2.66 ghz (FSB 533MHZ) and two 80GB SATA disks. Can the box sustain the load? I can add another 1gb of ram if necessary.
