Removing LVM
I have a CentOS 5 machine in which I'm trying to remove lvm. I dd'ed the
file system to another partition, then dd'ed it back overwriting the lvm
partition. I then modified menu.lst and fstab and replaced the paths to
point to the correct device.
When the system boots it's still looking for lvm. I can restore the
system back to where it was with lvm...

Issues with aacraid
Hi there,
I'm currently trying to install a server with
Centos 4.3 x86_64. I have issues installing drivers from a Driver disk,
I got a driver(2810SA) from the Adaptec site,
I started it up with "linux dd"
It reads the disk fine ....
I can see the aacraid module in the list but as soon as I choose it.
Then I get a screen saying "Do you wish to load more Driver Disks?"
I can see in the logging that it can't find the driver it also gives a
"Can't find a valid FAT filesystem...

To be honest, the last instructions I posted were simpler and shorter
than the rest of the tests, and even shorter than writing the emails
:).
Anyway, if you are sincerely willing to dd an image, I am willing to

Perhaps something went wrong with the 6.7 DVD, I haven't tested yet.
It is definitely supposed to work by just using dd to a USB stick.
Both 6.5 and 6.6 DVDs works just fine and so does the 6.7-network-
install iso. I just installed a node 10 minutes ago using that one
booted from a USB stick.

Assertion failure in do_get_write_access() at fs/jbd/transaction.c:746
I guess this could be filed under the 'shot myself in the foot' section,
but I figured I'd report it anyways..
Kernel 2.5.50-bk6, x86, preempt, PIIX IDE, ext3 fs.
I dd'ed the first part of a ext3 partition to tmp, then mounted it via
loopback. (the image passed a fsck, except for warning about corrupt part.
table or superblock) I tried to 'cd' into a directory within that mount,
and got this:
EXT3 FS 2.4-0.9.16, 02 Dec 2001 on loop(7,0), internal j...

Isohybrid wiki page and UEFI
...inux.efi' be included in an isohybrid image?
Yes, for example as 'EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI'.
Can such isohybrid image be burned to optical media?
Yes.
Can such optical media boot a BIOS system?
Yes, for example if 'isolinux.bin' was used as bootloader when
building the image. Additional conditions might be required.
Can such optical media boot a UEFI system in UEFI mode?
By means of 'syslinux.efi' v.6.03, no, it can not.
Can the isohybrid image be dd'ed to a (USB flash) drive?
Yes. Let's call it UFD1.
Can UFD1 boot a BIOS system?
Yes, for example if ...

...isohybrid image already containing 'syslinux.efi'
(and related files) and I copy the contents onto a FAT partition of a
USB drive formatted with a GPT partition table, I could then boot this
USB drive in UEFI mode. If, instead of copying the content of the
isohybrid image I would use a dd-like method, then the device won't
boot in UEFI mode since the (ISO9660) file system is not currently
supported by 'syslinux.efi'.
I am still of the opinion that the whole FAT "efiboot.img" issue is not
about _isohybrid_, but about how GRUB2 does it. For the GRUB2 method,...

It is an unstable build. DHCPCD got updated and might behave
differently. Its should continue after a very long time (five minutes or
so). If you are interested in booting LessLinux, press Tab when the menu
appears and add "dhcpcd" to the skipservices variable. But that's
off-topic here.
