moving from Xen to KVM
Hello All, I have been building a new server to deploy using Xen. However, seeing that Redhat is moving towards KVM, it would seem beneficial to deply this server using KVM as well. This is a Centos 5.4 x86_64 fresh install. So here is the scoop: * running the xen kernel with 2 vms works great. I have 2 vms- a cobbler host and an ldap host. * running with non-xen kernel, I

import_smbpasswd.pl for samba + LDAP
Hello All! I am trying to follow the instructions to store Samba's Uer/Machine Account information in an LDAP Directory (Samba-LDAP-HOWTO.html). Is there anyone knowing how to run this Perl script: "import_smbpasswd.pl" in examples/LDAP directory? I don't know Perl. :( In addition, is there more information/tutorial of LDAP available on line? Thank you very much.

Redhat Cluster Manager?
I just spend a few hours working with Redhat Cluster Manager. After working through some things that deal with Centos versus the *upstream provider*, I started configuring a cluster. Even to the point of using HP ILO as the fence. Anyone using this in production? With GFS ? I have used Heartbeat V1 in the past and I am deploying a new colo so I am looking at options. Any feedback is welcome.

Replacement for Linux-HA (heartbeat) - RedHat cluster?
Hello, I'm beginning to give up on making Linux-HA's heartbeat work for my environment (CentOS x86_64) and am wondering what other option have I got to help me: 1. Use IPVS to maintain a cluster of virtual servers, either master/slave or load-balanced. 2. Use DRBD in master/slave fashion to keep a home-grown application highly-available. The first thing I stumbled upon is RedHat Cluster

Ford Tech Serv app does not work
This just an FYI. Yesterday I updated to top of trunk wine and rebuilt and installed. I have a Ford Service CD (for 1999 models) and wine on the exe does not work (on an old Windows ME laptop it all works). The startup.exe sort of seems to work AFAICT, but when it's done and the app exe started the app exe ( installed on disk) cannot seem to find the cd (the app needs the CD, the install

wbinfo -t fails with W2K3 ADS as PDC
Hello all, I am attempting to set up Squid and have the authentication occur onto a Windows 2003 ADS server (enterprise edition- if it matters), hostname W2003. I have followed instructions listed at: http://itmanagers.net/Documents/File/walkthroughs/~Linux@Squid/Squid+and+Samba+3+-+Walkthrough.html and have spent numerous hours(+15) attempting this. However, I can't seem to get past the

conga, ricci and luci updates missing?
According to this link, https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2007-0331.html conga, ricci and luci have updates available. I can't find these updates on the mirrors I checked. They are in: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/os/x86_64/CentOS/ but not in: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5/updates/x86_64/RPMS/ Anyone have any ideas about this? TIA Dave

Assertion failure in __journal_drop_transaction()
Hello all, Last night a server of mine went belly up with my remote log server telling me this log entry: kernel: Assertion failure in __journal_drop_transaction() at fs/jbd/checkpoint.c:615: "transaction->t_forget == NULL" During this time, we had high email loads and I have my 2 /var/spool/postfix_1 and /var/spool/postfix_2 partitions mounted with "data=journal" option.

Heartbeat for Centos 5- Can't build RPMS or install prebuilt RPMS
I am stuck. This is X86_64 platform. In the extras repos, there is the SRPMS for heartbeat along with the RPMS for it. I have downloaded both. But I can't build the RPMS from the SRPM as it fails compiling something in BUILD/heartbeat-2.0.8/lib/crm/pengine Additionally, I can't install the RPMS: rpm -Uvh heartbeat-2.0.8-3.el5.centos.i386.rpm heartbeat-2.0.8-3.el5.centos.x86_64.rpm

openssl-0.9.7a-33.12
Why is RH using such an outdated version of OpenSSL ? I understand that they may have back-ported the fix but I just tried installing Net::SSLeay on a Centos 3.3 box and it wouldn't install, saying that the openssl version was old and suggested I get 9.7b or later? How are you handling this problem? I am resorting to recompiling OpenSSL 9.7d . Thanks, Dave
