dir() and RegEx and gsub()
Dear R-Users, I have two questions: a) in a directory there are 3 files: [1] "Data.~csv" "Kopie von Data.~csv" "VorlageTradefile.csv" The command "dir( fold, pattern = "\.csv" )" gives back *all* the 3 files With dir( fold, pattern = "\\.csv" ) I get back only VorlageTradefile.csv. I don't understand this behaviour,

R & DataMining
Dear R-user, I wish to know if someone is using R as concern Datamining or KDD (Knowledge Discovery in Database) and if already exists a R package specialized in this kind of analysis. I found this contributes on the R web site: [20] Diego Kuonen. Introduction au data mining avec R : vers la reconqu??te du `knowledge discovery in databases' par les statisticiens. Newbie question - struggling with boxplots
Hopefully I will not be flamed for this on the list, but I am starting out with R and having some trouble with combining plots. I am playing with the famous iris dataset (checking out example dataset in R while reading through Introduction to datamining) What I would like to do is create three graphs (combined boxplots) besides each other for each of the three species (Setosa, Versicolour and

R as Unix-Filter and Streams for DataMining
Hi, i want to use R as a filter in a Unix-like way. So i want to start it with producerTool | R --no-save --no-restore --slave < Rscript | anotherConsumerUnixTool inside the Script i put the results to stdout, works fine, but how to read in from stdin? Its obvious that i have to source the Rscript in a different way. Any Hints? My second question is, if there is a possibility to use

OFFTOPIC: SPARK Y H2O
Buenas erreros!!

Literature needed
Howdy! Could somebody point me to some good introductory readings about data mining and descriptive data analysis? I'm a psychologist and a couple of times I realized that some things just don't appear in psychological literature, e.g. I've never seen a box plot anywhere in psych journals so I'm not familiar with them. The R help function is great when it comes to explaining

I think it should be on the contributed docs. http://cran.r-project.org/other-docs.html Here is the link http://www.liaad.up.pt/~ltorgo/DataMiningWithR/ What do you think?

Can someone please explain why the last tick mark on this chart is not showing?
Hi all, I'm trying to log chart but with natural looking tick marks. My specifications are very specific -- it must indicate the lowest number's tick as well as the maximum. I've attached sample code and data for a particular case (and there are a few more like this) where the bottom tickmarks on the chart are not set to where I want them to be and yet they fit in the ylim range.

Reading a TIFF file
Dear all, I have been trying to speed up a process we have been done in ArcGIS. We have to read a single layer TIFF (monochrome image) in . For this, I have used the "rtiff" package. After reading the TIFF file, I compared the raw values for each pixel that I have in ArcGIS to the ones obtained in R. In ArcGIS I have discrete values in the range 0..255, while in R I have continuous
