[problem in `xl_cmdimpl.c`] Why pid return by fork() in parent process is not the same with pid returned by getpid()?
Hi all, In xen-4.1.2/tools/libxl/xl_cmdimpl.c : create_domain(), it starts up a child daemon process waiting for the domain death, there are several lines echo the child pid as follows: 1592 if (child1) { /*it''s in the parent*/ 1593 printf("Daemon running with PID %d\n", child1); /**it''s in the child/ 1643

OpenBSD TFTPD remap rules
...d.remap with the following rule: rgG \\ / In /etc/inetd.conf the -m parameter is added: Tftp ... /usr/libexec/tftpd tftpd -m /etc/tftpd.remap -s /tftpboot Result: The TFTP-daemon dosen't start. I've checked the man pages and there is no -m paramter (like on Linux). Does the build-in TFTP-Dameon in OpenBSD has no feature for remapping? If yes, how do I have to enable it? If no, how can I install the TFTPD-HPA 0.49 on OpenBSD 4.4? Regards Hans

Samba as AD domain member
...seem to stop working and the only way I can find to fix it is to clear out the lockdir of all tdb files and restart ( symptoms will be things like net status sessions hangs, net groupmap list hangs, wbinfo -r starts having issues ) (4) The samba stuff is running on a cluster ( active passive with dameons running on both nodes all the time and just the share configuration failing over ) - is there any way of ensuring that the tdb files are consistent between the two ( I saw something on this list about a similar issue with a backup print server ) - I'm I right in thinking we could set up an lda...

DHCP-DNS problems
...d 9.9.4, Samba 4.7.3 compiled from sources. >From what I can gather, /usr/local/bin/dhcpd-dyndns.sh is talking to the local samba daemon. Samba AD maintains the actual DNS entries. Why does the AD need confirmation with the bind daemon to update its internal database? Shouldn't the bind dameon, using samba_dlz, just contain the local DC when serving queries? Does anybody else have this problem? Cheers! -- Kv, Kristján Valur Jónsson, RVX

SIP client to IAXTel 800/888/877/866 dialing thru Asterisk
Through my Asterisk server, I am trying to use IAXTel to dial 800-type numbers (yes, I know I can do the same thing with FWD and others via SIP, but I wanted to play with IAX a little). It appears I'm running into some sort of a codec mismatch or something because it's not working right. The SIP client is a SPA-3000. In iax.conf, I have something like the following: [General]

Confusion as to how winbind and samba interact
Hi while doing some investigation I noticed the following: linux box + samba 3.0.0 with security = ads if winbind in nsswitch.conf for passwd and group then everything ok. if winbind not in nsswitch.conf and dameons restarted then samba authentication stops working ( doing net view \\server returns access denied ). if readd winbind to nsswitch .conf then have to restart daemons before everything ok again. this raises two questions: (1) everything I'd read about samba + winbind implied that the nsswitch....

Samba scaling
...ings running smoothly(Samba works fine, or NT if needed). Make sure that you run the Smbd and Nmbd as Daemons and NOT from inetd. I have currently got VERY stable servers running on both 2.6 and 2.7. They have been by far the most stable server that I have come across so far, also in the event of a dameon crash they can be restarted very quickly without a system reboot. (Try that with NT!) A script can be written to monitor the damons also if you really want to provide recovery in case of a problem. I would also reccomend that you compile them yourself using the latest version of Gcc if poss. I bel...

Help with RHEL4 and AD 2003 Authentication
Hello, I've been reading up on lots of documents that mention the different ways to do things as far as joining a linux machine to AD and authentication. I've tried most of them but its not helping at all. I've included my config files for smb.conf, krb5.conf, pam.d/system-auth and the applicable nsswitch.conflines. For security reasons, i've obscured part of the domain name. Any
