Some MS Software doesn't work with SAMBA?
Can it be that our accounting packages don't work
on SMB and only with NT?
I would HATE to put a NT Box into the mix.

Hi,
I compile and install samba 2.0.7 on Solaris 2.7, but I just can't start the
smbd.
$ smbd -D -p 3308
smbd: Version 2.0.7 : Must have effective user id of zero to run.
Any info will be appreciated.

User Profiles somewhat broken

I guess I'll dig through the Samba manual and look at group memberships.
It's been at least a year since I was on top of things.
Thanks,

Outdated Document - DOMAIN-CONTROL.txt
Dear Sir
I been reading through your (?) samba-doc folder on Debian 2.2.
The document DOMAIN-CONTROL.txt is dated 1996 and updated
1998. It mentions that SAMBA cannot be a PDC. This is not the
case anymore isn't it?
Thank you

Kerberos Support
As a new subscriber to this list, I would like to ask if the Kerberos
support for Samba 2.2alpha (krb5 Redhat packages are what I've already got
installed) is a bad idea.
Lots of room for subjective answers, no?
Specifically, does it require krb5 to make connections once the smb services
are running, or is it simply a connection option, used if available?
I have read that MS tailored

EA, ACL and Kernel Patching
I think I joined the list a little late to catch any info on prepping Linux
to support ACL's that went by.
I've done some searching, but I haven't found the answers (except in
switching to another file system that supports ACL).
A message just went by this morning, however, that referred to a kernel
patch for this functionality. Where can I find this patch and information?
Thanks.
