As a new subscriber to this list, I would like to ask if the Kerberos support for Samba 2.2alpha (krb5 Redhat packages are what I've already got installed) is a bad idea. Lots of room for subjective answers, no? Specifically, does it require krb5 to make connections once the smb services are running, or is it simply a connection option, used if available? I have read that MS tailored Kerberos to their own, evil ends. Will this be completely incompatible, or partially compatible? Thanks, DAM
DAM,> I have read that MS tailored Kerberos to their own, evil > ends. Will this be > completely incompatible, or partially compatible? At the moment, the W2K Kerberos is compatible with the MIT Kerberos 5. I successfully installed Kerberos clients on Linux that authenticate to the W2K KDC and it also works the other way round. I don't know how Samba works with Kerberos authentication. I read that it only works with plain text passwords (2.0.7. at least). Regards, Dirk
