Generate positive definite matrix with constraints
Hi, I have a question for my simulation problem: I would like to generate a positive (or semi def positive) covariance matrix, non singular, in wich the spectral decomposition returns me the same values for all dimensions but differs only in eigenvectors. Ex. sigma [,1] [,2] [1,] 5.05 4.95 [2,] 4.95 5.05 > eigen(sigma) $values [1] 10.0 0.1 $vectors [,1]

Accessing variables in a data frame
...variables named var.names and others named var.names_var.id For example var.name <- c("gdp","inf","unp") var.id <- c("w","i") x <- paste(var.name, rep(var.id, each=length(var.name)), sep="_") How can I access variables in the dama.frame by names listed in x, for example to compute gdp_w - gdp_i inf_w - inf_i unp_w - unp_i or gdp - gdp_w inf - inf_w unp - unp_w without needing to code each difference separately? Iterative loop using "repeat"
Hi, I'm Marianna I'm trying to apply the command "repeat" to my matrix but the repeat process doesn't work as I would. In particular I would like to apply the function robustm () _that I have created_ to my two matrices, if the difference between the two matrices is less than 0.001, R give me back the last matrix. The code thus created allows me to repeat the process only

How to menage decimals in order to obtain accurate estimates
Hi, I'm trying to calculate some functions loop, unfortunately my data are decimal numbers that not allow me to get an accurate estimate. I do not want to use neither "round "nor "signif" but I would prefer to have all the information available, (the function loop is generic so you should adapt to all data, not just those in particular). The approximation error is

Using loop for a random vector (Montecarlo method)
Hi, I would like to replicate a sort of Montecarlo experiment: I have to generate a random variable N(0,1) with 100 observations but I have to contaminate this values at certain point in order to obtain different vectors with different samples: tab<-function(N,n,E,L){ for(i in 1:100){ X1<-rnorm(N*(1-a),0,1) X2<-rnorm(N*(a),E,L) X_tab<-sample(c(X1,X2),n,replace=T) } return(X_tab)}

Ellipse in PCA with parameters "a" and "b"defined.
Hi, I have to construct an ellipse interval region on a PCAbiplot, I have my parameters "a" and "b" and I would apply the formula: draw.ellipse(x, y, a = , b = ) I have done a PCA on my data so I have my scores and loading for the first and second component, but my answer is what I have to choose as X and Y into the formula? if "a" and "b" are scalars or
