Theora and software patents

Fwd: [musl] strptime() question
There is incompatibility between R strptime and musl libc. I posted about it on their mailing list, but they need more information I can't provide, so I'm forwarding the message here in hope R developers can help. Thanks. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Rich Felker <dalias at libc.org> Date: Thu, Feb 4, 2016 at 2:07 PM Subject: Re: [musl] strptime() question To: Alba Pompeo <albapompeo at gmail.com> Cc: musl at lists.openwall.com, Martin Maechler <maechler at stat.math.ethz.ch> On Thu, Feb 04, 2016 at 01:27:40PM -0200, Alba Pompeo wrote: > Hello m...

troll or truth ?
Hello, I was discussing on the mplayer/mencoder ML about transcodingfrom Divx to Theora. I got these kind of answers: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mencoder.user/280 Of course I understoud only 50% of what he said, as well as I am not really used with codec and video glossary... But I generally understoud his opinion. What to think? I would like not to believe him, espacially when

Theora encoding in FFmpeg
(Cross posted to theora-dev@xiph.org and ffmpeg-devel@mplayerhq.hu) I am working towards adding Theora encoding support to libavcodec in FFmpeg. I am doing this by simply calling libtheora from libavcodec. I am at the point where I can execute: "./ffmpeg -v 100 -i test.wmv -f avi -an -vcodec theora -b 1000000 -y test.avi" I get some whirring and an output file written. My calls to

A libc in LLVM
Hello LLVM Developers, Within Google, we have a growing range of needs that existing libc implementations don't quite address. This is pushing us to start working on a new libc implementation. Informal conversations with others within the LLVM community has told us that a libc in LLVM is actually a broader need, and we are increasingly consolidating our toolchains around LLVM. Hence, we
