Identity files are always expanded by tilde_expand_filename() which gets
the name of the home directory from getpwuid(my_uid)->pw_dir.
This is not what I expect (well, hope :-) when my UID is 0 but I'm not
root.
In other words: my username is dahlem, my UID is 0, my HOME dir is
/home/dahlem. Ssh does not use /home/dahlem/.ssh/id_rsa but
/.ssh/id_rsa.
When I use "slogin remote -l dahlem" on the server side sshd doesn't
search for my public key in /.ssh/authorized_keys but in
/home/dahlem/.ssh/authorized_keys. At least this is...

Need help with 'Cannot find setup.exe Windows needs this file to

I have a CD we (Candle) created. It installs one of our products by
executing the setup.exe program. I am able to execute the program off the
CD with no problems.
I then copied the contents of the CD to the Samba share. I try and execute
the setup.exe file and get this error.
If I then copy the files from the Samba share to /temp, I can

Ok, "chmod u+s ssh scp" does help as first aid.
My question is: Is SUID on ssh/scp considered dangerous? Are there other
reasons one should avoid this?

Anyone resolved "failed to lock SMB passwd file"?
Hi all.
I'm experiencing long connect delays due to password file locking
errors. For each connection samba logs the following errors:
do_pw_lock: failed to lock SMB passwd file.
mod_smbpwd_entry: unable to lock file
/usr/local/samba-1.9.18p10/private/smbpasswd
In the archives I found some other messages reporting the problem (on
May this year), but no solution. Did I

Forcing privileged ports with ssh -R
...dn't incompatibly change the protocol.
So my idea is to implement it in a way that
client_request_forwarded_tcpip() in clientloop.c checks originator_port
for being in the priveleged range and - if yes - uses a privileged port
to connect.
Any comments?

2.0.7: inherit permissions = yes breaks setting read-only on files
...eems to be solved.
But anybody using "inherit permissions = yes" should be aware of the
fact that his users cannot set any file to read-only as long as the
parent directory has the w-Bit set!

Why only one WINS server?

I did and the machines are running perfectly smooth. Did I miss something?
What is the background behind the restriction in the docs?

[LLVMdev] Help:- Memory dependence profiling in LLVM

Hello,
I want to do a memory dependence profiling. Is there any freely available
implementation of memory dependence profiling implementations in LLVM
which I can modify for my own use?

[PATCH] some patches for Fujitsu-Siemens ReliantUNIX, minor fixes and XXXes
...rote some of the old
code to gather at least PATH. Rest will be done at a later time (when I
better understand the code :-).
I added a paranoia check to have always a minimum PATH set but take
care! I fear this changed the semantics of --with-default-path.

Group information lost when security = server
Hi.
I have a samba install, samba-1.9.18p4, with security=server. Users are
validated against the NT domain controller correctly, and user accounts
do exist on the unix box (AIX 4.2.1)
Problem is that while the uid of the files that users create is correct,
the group id is always sys, even though the users have as primary gid
STAFF.
The definition of the share I am trying to create is:

[LLVMdev] llvm get annotations
Hello everyone !
I followed
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4976298/modern-equivalent-of-llvm-annotationmanagerin
order to get annotations from my target bytecode. All the examples
that
I give in the following is related to the code from that link. I have
`__attribute__((annotate("DS"))) int f=0;` into the target C++ program and
the related IR code:
