Rome TW on Ubuntu 10.10 (maverick)
Hello,
I was asked to provide info about my attempt to run Rome TW on my Linux system. Not sure what info exactly is sought, so please ask for additional information.
The system I tried to use is a Dell Latitude D830 with 3 GB ram and the latest Bios version A15
I've installed Ubuntu 10.10 32bit. I did install Compiz Fusion from standard Ubuntu repo's.
Additionaly, I installed Wine 1.2 and tried to install Rome TW (Gold Master edition DVD with version 1,5) from media. This failes with an Msi error duri...

How to remove the wrong wireless firmware module
...kernel, please look at the ipw4965 method above. <br/>First download and install the firmware (see above), then just reload the iwlagn kernel module: <br/><br/>rmmod iwlagn; modprobe iwlagn"<br/><br/>I managed to grab the wrong set of firmware for my Dell Latitude D830. There was conflicting guidance on the Internet as to which device was installed...I've now found out that it is a Broadcom device. I need to remove the Intel firmware and install the Broadcom firmware.<br/><br/>BTW, it appears that support for the Broadcom wireless device is not...

Centos & USB3
I replaced my development machine with 6 cores, 32 GB etc.
I thought it would be simply inserting the existing HDDs and
changing /etc/sysconfig/ifcfg-eth0 but,
* in the UEFI "BIOS" USB2 and USB3 work.
* in C5.11 USB2 works but USB3 does not.
* in C6.5 (my install disk; OS be updated to C6.8) USB2 works but USB3
does not.
On both C5 and C6 lsusb shows an entry for the plugged-in

Firefox slower on GMail since update to CentOS 5.5
Hello,
since I upgraded from CentOS x86_64 5.4 to 5.5, I noticed that Firefox
has become significantly slower on GMail (or Google Apps Mail).
The page becomes slow to scroll as soon as there are more than a few
mails in a conversation (like in a typical CentOS mailing list
thread).
Did anyone else notice that as well?
(I guess that I'm not the only GMail user around)
Could I have missed

Centos laptop support
Today I found myself in need of a laptop to run Centos on. And that simple statement led to an all-day odyssey.
My original plan was to purchase a laptop and install Centos 6 on it. I went to Staples and tried booting it on every model of laptop that they had in the store. They all come with Windows 8 installed, and for the edification of anyone who doesn't know this (I didn't until
