System hangs while removing disc from d1000
For tests purpose, I have connected a D1000 on a small V120 pizza box with Solaris 10 with recent patches. To simulate disk crash, I removed a disc from the D1000, but after that, using zpool status makes the system hang. Only power cycle helps. I found the following link: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=87048&amp...

SCSI install to IDE install - help
Hi, a customer has a Centos installation on SCSI disk (aic7xxx), there are some programs that he no longer have the installation media (some accounting stuff). Due to the SCSI disk going bad we must tranfer the installation to some other disks. SCSI disks are very difficult to find here and must be ordered (and wait about 45 days to arrive at the dealer). Can I clone the SCSI disk to a IDE Disk

Back to apcupsd
...3000 started connecting and disconnecting the USB connection. I brought down and up the service, no joy. Finally, after googling, I found a *completely* undocumented way to start apcupsd, that a few years ago someone was told to try, so as to log debugging info, to send to a developer: apcupsd -d1000 -T I've just skimmed the man page, and the online docs, and there is *no* mention of either parm. I found nothing in the logs. However, when I kill -HUPped it, and restarted the service, the USB stuff had stopped. Ok, one problem down. The change battery light's still on. I'll see if...

Help on not matching object lengths
...if(1000,50,60) d <-exp(-c*a)+exp(-c*b)   This will give me the obvious error message of lengths not matching. What I am trying to do here is to have 33 rows x 1000 columns d values calculated in total. As an eaxmple for visual, this is what it supposed to look like where d1,d2,d3 and so on up to d1000 are calculated using the equation and the respective a and b values: Code #2 d1 <-runif(33,10,20) d2 <-runif(33,15,20) d3 <-runif(33,18,20) e <-cbind(a,b,d1,d2,d3)   Next, I would like to generate 33 x 1000 newd values again using newa and newb values and the same c values, eg: Code #3...

Hot swap CPU
From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > Btw, don't quote me on this one :) > I'm only 90% sure of the hotswapping capabilities, and less than 50% > sure about the price :) There _are_ systems with hot-swap CPUs, memory and/or, PCI[-X] slots. They are _not_ commodity and pricey, and require OS-level support. In fact, I believe Linux 2.6 has some support for

Sun 6120 array again
Greetings, Last April, in this discussion... http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=143517 ...we never found out how (or if) the Sun 6120 (T4) array can be configured to ignore cache flush (sync-cache) requests from hosts. We''re about to reconfigure a 6120 here for use with ZFS (S10U4), and the evil tuneable zfs_nocacheflush is not going to serve us well (there is a ZFS

Junda-tech
Hi, I have an UPS with only the marking D1000 on it and it came with Junda-Tech's UpsMate. Its USB id is 3344:0025, which is apparently a microprocessor. I've could get some of the HID interactions as described on the website, but there are some outstanding. Junda-Tech does not respond to any queries. Does anybody else have the sam...

External SATA drive enclosures + ZFS?
...en that I can''t see to find a 4-drive version of it, would I be correct in thinking that I could buy two of the above enclosures and connect them to two different USB ports? Presumably, if that is the case, I could set them up as a RAID 10 pool controlled by ZFS? This would be replacing a D1000 array, which is mostly empty (I think I''m only using one pair of 10K RPM 143 GB disks at the moment!). I could add extra disks to the D1000 but appropriate disks seem to be rare/expensive especially when $/GB is factored in to the equation. Assuming my proposed enclosure would work, and...

Raidz vdev size... again.
Hi, i''m new to the list so please bare with me. This isn''t an OpenSolaris related problem but i hope it''s still the right list to post to. I''m on the way to move a backup server to using zfs based storage, but i don''t want to spend too much drives to parity (the 16 drives are attached to a 3ware raid controller so i could also just use raid6 there). I

j4200 drive carriers
apparently if you don''t order a J4200 with drives, you just get filler sleds that won''t accept a hard drive. (had to look at a parts breakdown on sunsolve to figure this out -- the docs should simply make this clear.) it looks like the sled that will accept a drive is part #570-1182. anyone know how i could order 12 of these?

ZFS, power failures, and UPSes
Hello, I''ve looked around Google and the zfs-discuss archives but have not been able to find a good answer to this question (and the related questions that follow it): How well does ZFS handle unexpected power failures? (e.g. environmental power failures, power supply dying, etc.) Does it consistently gracefully recover? Should having a UPS be considered a (strong) recommendation or
