EMC CX4 Clariion
Hi,
We had received a new EMC storage (Clariion CX4) and the EMC analist has
told us that CentOS aren't on their support list, but RHEL are :)
Well anybody on the list has a CentOS host talking (iSCSI) with an EMC storage,
preferably using the EMC Powerpath software, and can talk about you experience?
Or I will need to buy some REHL license...

10Gbit ethernet
...thernet, but be given
new switches uplinked via 10Gbit to the core switch.
Before I spend a great deal of money, can I ask if anyone here has experience
of 10GBit? Dell, HP, Supermicro, IBM (etc..) seem to be pushing the NetXen
PCIe cards, so I guess these drivers work...? As to media, although CX4 seems
cheaper than optical, I hear the cabling is nasty. And is the magical fairy
going to fix 10Gbit over cat6A anytime soon?
any thoughts appreciated.

OFFTOPIC :: IB hardware choice
Hi! I would need an advice from those that use IB (as admins :) )
i have a choice between :
1. Mellanox InfiniHost? III Lx HCA card, single-port CX4, DDR, PCIe
x8, mem-free, tall bracket, RoHS R5
2. QLogic Single Port 20 Gb InfiniBand to x16 PCI Express Adapter
(Single Pack)
aside the price is there anything else that could help me make a
discrimination between this two?
(these will be used in twin servers for a small (up to 24 nodes)

Experiencing continual eth0 link up/down on a 10G Chelsio NIC (cxgb3 driver)
File Server OS: CentOS 5.3 (x86_64)
Kernel: CentOS Plus kernel (need XFS fs drivers)
The file server has a Chelsio T310 10GBASE-CX4 RNIC (rev 3) PCI

Plus kernel.
Using ethtool I have verified driver association with the 3 NICs on
the system (eth1 and eth2 are not connected to any switch)

pvresize on a cLVM
Hi,
I'm needing to expand a LUN on my EMC CX4-120 SAN. (Well I already had done it).
On this LUN I had a PV of a cLVM VG. Know I need to run pvresize on it.
Has anybody done this on a cLVM PV ?
I'm trying to rescan the devices, but I can't "see" the new size. And,
googling on it I can only find RHEL5.2 responses...

CentOS5 with Dell Broadcom iSCSI Offload, does it work ?
...es answers to this question via google, but without
making it work on my servers. Has anybody iSCSI Offload working on a Dell
Server with Broadcom NICs ?
My environment: I'm running CentOS 5.6 CR, on a Dell PowerEdge R710 with
Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5709 conecting to an EMC CX4-120 SAN,
via 2x Cisco 2960G-24TC-L switches. It's working without the iSCSI offload.
Thanks in advance,
Antonio.

Virtualization Options!
...key validation is still MS-AD.
Now I'm taking a look at RHEV... and run into Oracle VM! Somebody had already
take a look at Oracle VM?
We need in primary a solid VM solution for an "enterprise cloud" running
on top of some old and new Dell servers in conjunction with an EMC Cx4-120
storage.
We had plans to provide "desktop virtualization" in the future, most to
labs class, and maybe adminstrative tasks. But it isn't necessary now.
Anybody had some other options to tell?
Thanks in advance,
Antonio.

partition offset/alignment on SAN devices.
Hey folks,
I've been getting requests from the users that they want the OCFS2
filesystems aligned to 64k boundaries, however, when I began the
project, the dummy of me, created the OCFS2 filesystem on top of the
whole disk device (no partition) for example, one of the SAN devices
would show up as /dev/dm-10, I created the filesystem using the
following command:
mkfs.ocfs2 -L SOMELABEL

Questions about results from PCAproj for robust principal component analysis
...zeroes. I ran the following:
dmpcaprj=PCAproj(datamatrix,k=4,CalcMethod="sphere",update=TRUE)
to get the first four robust components. When I look at the princomp object
returned as dmpcaprj, some of the results are just what I expect. For
example,
- dmpcaprj$loadings has dimensions Cx4, as expected, and the first four
eigenvectors of
the (robust) covariance matrix are orthonormal:
sum(dmpcaprj$loadings[,i]*dmpcaprj$loadings[,j]) = 1 if i == j, ~ 0 if i
!= j
- dmpcaprj$sdev contains the square roots of the four corresponding
eigenvalues.
- dmpcaprj$n.obs equals R.
- dmpcapr...

suggestions for large filesystem server setup (n * 100 TB)
Hi,
over time the requirements and possibilities regarding filesystems
changed for our users.
currently I'm faced with the question:
What might be a good way to provide one big filesystem for a few users
which could also be enlarged; backuping the data is not the question.
Big in that context is up to couple of 100 TB may be.
O.K. I could install one hardware raid with e.g. N big drives

Getting at MakeOpenFile
Along the same lines as the last question - how can I get to functions
like MakeOpenFile via Win32API? It doesn''t seem to be exported by
msvcrt-ruby18.
Possible? Or am I out of luck?

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:
