Samba 2.2.7a and cups 1.1.18
Hi
I have installed samba-2.2.7a and cups-1.1.18. After reading all the documentation samba
provides as well as the cups administrators guide I am still stuck. I have added the
printers just the way the samba and cups documentation says. Anyway here is my output from
cupsaddsmb, It fails on the last step, so i have run that manually again...

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features"
some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix.
However there are some disparities between the documentation and our
practical experience for which a clear statement would help others.
The docs state when us...

What am I missing here?!
OK, I've tried changing my printcap name from printcap to cups. Printing
works fine locally using CUPS on the Samba box. What am I missing here? Why
can't I print to the Samba box via the Windows and linux clients? Shared
directories work fine. I am really frustrated here and have exhausted Google
and all other resources I have. Here's my sm...

Hello
I've got some problems downloading Adobe PostScript printer drivers on a
Windows 98 client :
On the server side (Red Hat 9 / Samba 3.0.2 / Cups 1.1.17) :
I installed succesfully my printers with Cups and they work fine on Linux
I ran cupsaddsmb tool to copy the Adobe files in the [print$] directory
which gives this result :

Printing with CUPS and PDF
Trying to get one Samba server to serve several printers through CUPS
and host a virtual PDF "printer" at the same time. I've gotten them
working separately, but not together, and I think I know why.
In the smb.conf man page under "print command":

Samba + cups = raw postscript output
Hi, I think this is a samba problem but I'm not 100% sure :)
When I am printing with the Cups 6 driver from windows to samba, to
cups to my printer, only the postscript commands are coming out, raw.
The cups log file says it's seeing application/vnd.cups-raw, and I had
a look at a tcp dump of packets going to port 631, and indeed they do
confirm that the IPP port is being told this....

Hi, all,
I'll give you some more info about the PostScript driver Volker mentioned
above here as a reference. (Maybe one day before the 3.0 release it will
end up as a worked-out pa...

samba cannot find cups printcap
Hi,
I just upgraded from cups-1.3.8/samba-3.4.1 to cups-1.4.1/samba-3.4.3
After upgrading, the samba log showed that it could not find the printcap file - previously cups was not generating a printcap file, but things worked fine. I changed cupsd.conf to produce a printcap file, but the samba log shows it cannot find it, even...

Cups freeze when remote server is unavailable
Hi John
thanks for your quick reply. If it is not a bug, as I was reading on the
web, it is some misunderstanding from me.
Running cups 1.4.2 (CentOS6) I was using the "BrowsePoll" directive in
cupsd.conf. So the printers were automatically known from the central
server of the lab. And home printers were working fine with this setup too.
In CentOS7, with cups 1.6.3, this directive does not exist any more and
reading the...

...laptops to set up and they are all automatically
(re)installable from a PXE boot + kickstart in case of trouble. So all
must be setup automatically (using command lines in the kickstart file)
and user must be allowed to add their own home printer.
I understand some things this afternoon, discover cups-browsed that was
not available in 1.4 version (CentOS6), understand why it was not
working (the laboratory cups version was 1.4 on a debian server and
CentOS7 has 1.6.x now) discover also that ppd files are deprecated in
newer cups version (> 2.x ?)....
Time is to go deeper in all these docume...

Cups printers troubles
Ok... here we go,
I have a server running RH 7.3, samba 2.2.3a, and CUPS 1.1.14. All the
printers we have are networked printers sitting off of Linksys
printservers. On this server I am sharing all off our printers out via
Samba. See my smb.conf file below. This server works perfectly. All
printers are shared out successfully.
Primary CUPS server:

CUPS rpm version on centos4
Hey!
I have two Centos4.2 servers using the same yum configuration (identical
files, edited on one and copied to the other), which both report no
updates [besides squid which is afaict still currently borked] via
"yum check-update".
At the same time package versions don't match (cups is in the
base/updates pair of repositories):
[1]# rpm -q cups cups-libs
cups-1.1.22-0.rc1.9.8
cups-libs-1.1.22-0.rc1.9.8
[2]# rpm -q cups cups-libs
cups-1.1.22-0.rc1.9.9
cups-libs-1.1.22-0.rc1.9.9
Any ideas?
Cheers,
MaZe.
