Cuesheets and metaflac
...contents will be 'skewed' by the pregap amount, so the resulting cd-discid will be different). I am aware of the "REM FLAC__lead-in" field in the cue file exported by metaflac, but it always seems to be 88200 (2 seconds), regardless of any PREGAP or other entries in the imported cuefile. Currently, the only way I've found to be able to store a workable (generates a CD identical to cd-discid after compress/uncompress cycle) is to rip the entire disc (including the pregap) and create a cue file with an INDEX 00 entry (which flac/metaflac will properly store/retrieve): TRACK...

With apologies to the flac folks, here it is. Further abcde and cuefile discussions should probably find a new home... The first two changes add features to the cuefile output, but are not strictly necessary (regardless, flac will stash the catalog and ISRC values, if present, so they're not pointless). The last group of changed lines is what actually converts th...

The difference between a PREGAP entry in your cuefile (cdrdao) and an INDEX 00 entry (EAC) might not seem like much, but it's the difference between having the entire CD in your ripped file or just part of it. I see that this was the right place to fire off this question. Thanks for your feedback. It has given me a base to start some trials. I used to use EAC on Windows, but I tend to only use open source software as much as possible and I don't use Windows any more. I gave a brief look at abcde, but it is clear I need to look at this some more. It looks like it has the potential to do everything I

flac and metadata
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 The recent thread on archiving CDs with flac has prompted me to ask a few questions about flac and metadata: 1.1) It appears that metaflac only imports limited information from a cuefile. Text data (ie: Title, Artist) and any comments are removed from the file. I can kind of see eating the comments, but why are the perfectly valid text fields not getting saved? 1.2) Alternately is there some other method of tagging the tracks in a single large flac file so each track can have pr...

...finally get my collection organized and archived. I've been looking at abcde for my primary front-end and have been looking to rip and encode to flac, ogg and mp3. I'd love get access to your changes to abcde. I never even thought about encoding the entire cd as a flac. That eliminates the cuefile problem and makes it easy to reconstruct back to an audio cd. I'd be willing to help hack on abcde since I think it could use some updates anyway and it's been a while since I contributed anything to it. Is anybody familiar with a system that will automatically scan an existing collection...

2 questions on flac files with internal cue sheet.
Hi, I made backup-copies of several CDs. First I used eac (exactaudiocopy) for exact ripping to a single wav-file with cue sheet. Then I used flac --cuesheet=<cuefile> <wavfile> to get a flac file with internal cue sheet. I am on a linux system. eac is running in a vmware-windows (actually, eac is the only reason that I have a windows version running). At this point I have two questions: 1) I want to produce track-wise vorbis- and mp3-files from the...

Ices 0.4 ices.cue file error
After several days of uninterupted operation (about 4 or 5 days I believe), ices-0.4 starts to return this error countless times: "Could not open cuefile [/tmp/ices.cue] for writing, cuefile not updated" This error eventually causes the stream to misreport the name of the currently playing song. Instead of reporting the current song, it reports the song found in the now defunct cue file. I would have thought with the perl module that ices wo...

FLAC CD Archive
I have read some posts about using FLAC to archive CD collections and would like to get some feedback. I am torn between creating a bin and cue file with CDDB info and compressing that down with FLAC as a single file or the second method of ripping all the files out to wav and converting to FLAC and maybe saving the cue file in attempt to use it later. The first method I believe will pretty much
