Benchmark - Thanks Dave for making this gnawer this FAST!!
Hi List,
I''ve took some time and made some tests on the performance of
java-lucene, hyperestraier and ferret as Dave encourages the community
of ferret to do so.
Quite intersting numbers. Ferret indeed deserves to be called a
high-performance port!!
It''s MyFirstBenchmark (

Ferret-0.10.3 released
Hey all,
I''ve just released Ferret 0.10.3. It is mostly just a bugfix release.
I''ve also added Ferret::Analysis::HyphenFilter which filters
hyphenated words for better search results. Basically the way it works
is it concatenates a hyphenated word as well as adding the two
separate terms. So "set-up" becomes "setup", "set", "up" so

[LLVMdev] Documentation: How to Setup a Windows Buildbot Slave
Hi,
Here's my first draft proposal for a document on how to setup a Windows box
for building LLVM and Clang using MinGW(32/64).
The document can serve equally as a procedure for how to configure a
Windows box to build LLVM and Clang using MinGW(32/64), and as a procedure
for how to set up a build slave.
The only thing that is untested is the actual procedure of registering a
buildbot slave

Hum/bux on line
Rich Hi,
After Qwest pronounced my circuits as within spec. (yes, disconnected
from the house) I listened on the lines with my butt set. Clear of all
noise and hum. I then got my box of Cat3 and laid a circuit around the
outside of the house and into my lab. Still clear of all noise and hum.
I then connected the circuit to the Adtran and made a call. Lots of
hum and buzzz.
As I said,

summary.glm() print problem(?) with cor = TRUE
Hi,
I've had a look the bug list and searched though the R documentation, email
lists etc. but didn't see anything on this:
when I do:
summary(species.glm1, correlation = TRUE)
I get a correlation matrix like this:
Correlation of Coefficients:

pH * 1
I(pH^2) * B 1
Ca . . 1
I(Ca^2) . . B

Strange Results of summary()
--l4Siqd0eqV
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Hello,
I run the following job. Please, compare the results of summary and
table concerning berufl. From similar SPSS/PSPP runs, the result of
table is correct.
Did I misunderstand anything or is there a bug?
What does the difference come from?
What does '(other)' mean?
What about the strange

Yes, that was my major complaint too.

Final Post/Lack of support
Hi,
I went to the official xiph channel on IRC (openprojects) to try once
more to get some support for the *.ogm stuff we did. I think there still
is and always will be the need for this extension, out of _well_ known
reasons.
I was in a bad mood for all the stuff which happened the last months
regarding the ogg container being called ogm to indicate that this isn't
meant for a music

Do I need a CH1 licence for Cisco Phones ?
I've got a question regarding Cisco IP Phones and licencing.
When using a third party PBX like asterisk is a licence required for the
Cisco phones ? Has anyone got anything in writing from Cisco to clarify this
?
Eg can I just use CP-7961G or do I need CP-7961G-CH1 even though I'm not
using Cisco Callmanager ?

...ing Vorbis the preferred audio codec for the
whole video encoding community.
We can not thank Xiph enough for the fact they created Vorbis, being
opensource, free of cost and with excellent quality. Lets accept the status
quo now as it is and lets avoid to upset the guys .... they dont deserve any
critizism or insulting for giving us Vorbis, nor for giving us Ogg !!
<p>About Tobias' code being opened and the validity of the .ogm files as spec
compliant Ogg files :
I was emailing Tobias about the whole issue, i even inlcuded the IRC log
from last sunday morning. He doesnt respond to my last...

R (development) changes in arith, logic, relop with (0-extent) arrays
Regarding Martin Maechler's proposal:
Arithmetic between length-1 arrays and longer non-arrays had
silently dropped the array attributes and recycled. This now gives
a warning and will signal an error in the future, as it has always
for logic and comparison operations
For example, matrix(1,1,1) + (1:2) would give a warning/error.
I think this might be a mistake.

Re: Demonizing generic Linux issues as Fedora Core-only issues -- WAS: Hi, Bryan
Even I've left this thread.
I guess we're all waiting for Lee to turn Blue. ;->
Or is it Red (Hat)? ;->
Okay Lee, we all agree, Red Hat makes stupid decisions, adopts buggy software - especially the kernel and Red Hat is to blame for the decisions in the kernel, and also stupidly backports fixes instead of adopting newer versions with the fixes.
And there is absolutely no need for

SAS or R software
Hi all there
Can some one clarify me on this issue, features wise which is better R or SAS, leaving the commerical aspect associated with it. I suppose there are few people who have worked on both R and SAS and wish they would be able to help me in deciding on this.
THank you for the help

SSD Optimizations
I''m looking to try BTRFS on a SSD, and I would like to know what SSD
optimizations it applies. Is there a comprehensive list of what ssd
mount option does? How are the blocks and metadata arranged? Are there
options available comparable to ext2/ext3 to help reduce wear and
improve performance?
Specifically, on ext2 (journal means more writes, so I don''t use ext3 on
SSDs,
