Moving Existing W2K Local Profile to W2K Roaming profile

current local profile a roaming one. I have tried the following steps:
Attached the computer to the domain.
Logged into the computer as a Domain Administrator.
Gone to my computer -> user profiles.
Selected the users local profile and clicked on Copy To.
In the path to copy to I put \\crhpdc\profiles\username.
I then telnet to crhpdc and
chown -R username.useranem ./profiles/username
It succeeds in copying all of the files to the correct place. When I try to
login as the user, however, the registry portion of the profile refuses to
load but all of the Files and Icons etc. are ther...

SAMBA PDC permissions quandry
...not concern me so much except for where data is concerned.
I have several high priority users putting data in their Home directory so
that it can be backed up on the server. I have discovered that even though
these directories are not browsable, anyone who is in the smbadmins group
can type //crhpdc/username in Start>Run and have full access to the person's
home directory. I am stuck here as to how to fix this.

Upgrading from 2.2.3a to 2.2.7a concerns
...is a preferred way to go about the upgrade than what I have above,
please let me know.
I am including my smb.conf in hopes that if someone spies something awry
they will let me know.

Roaming profile problems
Hello,
I have installed since 6 months a PDC with samba and there is an endless
problem : the roaming profile synchronisation !!!
THE problem : Sometimes after the logout of a client, the roaming profile
is not synchronised on server. So when client connect on another clients, it
seems that some data have been loosed... After there is no later
