License for Wiki Content - LAST CALL
Okay, this will never come to an end otherwise: I would like to use <http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/> as the license for the complete content of the wiki. The content on the wiki is *NOT* licensed at all at the moment. So this call goes out to *ALL* people who have already contributed to the wiki: Is it okay with you to use this license for your content on the wiki?...

License of the nutshell package
...cran.r-project.org/web/packages/nutshell/index.html says that the license is "file LICENSE". This is further explained at http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/nutshell/LICENSE as [snip] The audioscrobbler data is made avaialable under the following Creative Commons license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/1.0/ All other data files are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 United States License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/us [/snip] So, which version of the creative commons license is appropriate ? Thanks and regards, -- Pai

Wiki license, again
...rg/MarketingMaterial> and asked me about the licensing of content on there. Which made me think "Well, let us restart this discussion again". We *do* need a license for content on the wiki. The three licenses we're favouring (well, sort of) are: The GNU Free Documentation License CreativeCommons with attribution Open Documentation License I'm still favouring nr. 2, as it is the easiest to understand and is available in several languages. The use for an XML based metadata format
Daniel, these are all good ideas and worth progressing. However, it may be better not to merge too many goals in one format (MPEG-7 did that and ended up as a big mess). So, I suggest to start by structuring the types of things you want - then finding out which parts belong where into existing formats such as vorbis comment, Skeleton and CMML, and only then start to develop a new format. ...trol (for example, for Red Hat Content licensed under a Creative Commons License, you will have the rights set forth in the applicable Creative Commons License)." --------------------------- The way I understand it, most RHEL documentation has a more permissive license, like CC-BY-SA: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ and can be redistributed under certain conditions. However, the terms of use still apply to using the Red Hat websites (=bandwidth). But if someone is a Red Hat customer, he can legally access the site, fetch the documentation and redistribute it to everyone. Since RHEL an...

Documentation Licenses again
...That's why I want to reopen discussion: So far we found 4 licenses which should be inspected a little bit deeper (pros and cons are from me). This is if we *want* to have the content in the wiki under some form of license. The Creative Commons license which CC suggests for wikis: <http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/2.5/> Pro: Easy to understand, easy to embed. Three-Layer system: Easy user readable license backed by a license for lawyers and a machine readable part (can be searched for by google and yahoo, for example. noncopyrighted content
Hello, I'm setting up an icecast server and i'd like for it to do something. I am looking for publically available content or noncopyrighted-nonpatonted content I can load on to the server and stream without worrying about copyright violations. Also, what are the current security recommendations and best practices for icecast and to a lesser extent ices? Thanks. Dave.
