Something like apt-cacher for CentOS/RHEL?
Hi, For some time I've fiddled with Debian and Ubuntu LTS. There's one really nice feature for local networks: apt-cacher, a package proxy for APT. My company is in the remote South French countryside, and more often than not, schools and public libraries only have some very limited Internet access with relatively low bandwidth, which can make the updating process very tedious. A package cache comes in very handy in such situation. Do you know if something like this exists for RPM-based di...

Another Fedora decision
...y a software pirate but an individual (and a keen cyclist) storing some old-ish PDFs on his own web site. One I noticed was "Free BSD, 2009" all 857 pages present - in Russian. Another is a 2005 Linux PDF book in Russian. No copyright on his photos including long empty roads, sunlight, countryside and an occasional motor vehicle. For example http://sferon.dlinkddns.com/Pub/Brevet_400km_3.05.2014/P1010009.JPG of in the countryside http://sferon.dlinkddns.com/Pub/Images_krepostnaya/Krepostnaja.jpeg I really liked and appreciated the filming perspective (position) in the Italian video htt...

Configuring an Intel 3945 wireless card: partial success
...wireless connection. NetworkManager tries to establish a connection for about 30 seconds, but fails. ... which leaves me clueless. Any suggestions? Last detail: for the moment at least, I'm using no encryption at all on the access point. We live in a very remote place in the south French countryside, there's only hunters and wild boars around, so it's not a very friendly place for wlan-hackers :o) Niki Kovacs

...to honor Administrator, and Domain Admins, but Linux does the completely opposite, denying objects that should have some kind of elevated privileges completely, and letting through unprivileged objects. Very frustrating, totally without any logic. I'll get on my bike and take a trip in the countryside tomorrow, instead of fighting wind mills... Best regards, Peter

wrong fill colors in polygon-map
Dear all, I would like to produce a map with information about the patenting activity in German districts, by coloring districts with different degrees of patenting activity in different colors. I work with the packages maptools, maps and spdep. The map data is read from an external .shp file (+ the corresponding .shx and .dbf files). Plotting a map with the IDs or the patenting indicator itself
