control L to clear the Rgui screen in Windows
Greetings R-ians: Searching the Searchable Mail Archives I discovered that ctrl L will clear the Rgui screen, which is what I'd like to do from a print (or some similar) statement. Is there a mechanism to use the ctrl L clear-screen sequence in a script, or print statement? Thanks for your counsel. Charles Annis, P.E. Shortly after this post, I found a solution here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=1097725 In order to see the .Dennis\ Email.Dennis\ Inbox sub-folder you have to collapse and re-expand the folder list in Thunderbird. It's that simple ... AND that annoyingly obscure! Thanks for your help! --Mark -----Original Message----- From: Mark Foley <mfoley at ohprs.org> Date: Thu,

relationship counselling for debian and rsync
I heard Debian's trying to freeze soon. I have a few points about rsync's Debian package. I'll see what I can do to close some Debian/rsync bugs. Fortunately some of the bad ones seem to be already addressed in our regular tarballs. It would be pretty cool if I could be automatically cc'd on Debian bug reports about rsync, if the BTS supports that. The debian/copyright file

Seeking friend for life (not)
I'll take a risk following Uwe's wonderful response to that advert. I'm looking for someone, perhaps particularly a stats student, who might want to do a piece of work with me on using R to present and analyse routine data that psychotherapists might submit on a cgi-bin interface and perhaps cross-referencing that against some largish referential data to which I have access.

Repeated use of dyn.load().
I am working with a function "foo" that explicitly dynamically loads a shared object library or "DLL", doing something like dyn.load("bar.so"). This is a debugging exercise so I make changes to the underlying Fortran code (yes, I acknowledge that I am a dinosaur) remake the DLL "bar.so" and then run foo again. This is all *without* quitting and

Am I opening myself to some security vulnerability if I unprotect the Controller classes'' redirect methods?
Am I opening myself to some security vulnerability if I unprotect the Controller classes'' redirect methods? I merrily wrote a (specific to my university) authentication filter as a separate class. As part of the authentication process it needs to re-direct the user to a university server to log in. This all works fine except that the redirect_to methods of a controller are all

ssh-keygen can't recognize its own keys?
I'm trying to move from SSH1 to OpenSSH 2.9.9p2, under Solaris 8. Initial setup and testing seems to work... including the generation of a new RSA key. The key was created with "ssh-keygen -t rsa" and a passphrase; nothing unusual. I can SSH between machines, both running 2.9.9p2, and debug messages show that this file is being correctly read (I think). It prompts me for the

Moving to 1.8.1: can you transfer your package list?
I prefer to use R on a linux box and ultimately need things to end up there to serve things up using David Firth's excellent CGIwithR and apache, but one step at a time and I've installed 1.8.1 under win2k. Another question that I'm sure is simple: is there a simple way to find the list of installed libraries I had in my 1.7.1 installation and use that to drive install.packages?

Repeated use of dyn.load().
Hello, In such cases, with C code, I call dyn.unload before loading the modified shared lib again. I don't know if this changed recently, but it used to be needed or else R wouldn't load the new lib. When I call dyn.unload followed by dyn.load I never had problems. (Or the other way around, call dyn.unload before modifying the C code.) Hope this helps, Rui Barradas On 3/1/2018 8:52

Change line colors based on data values in Lattice
Say I have x = seq(1, 40) y = seq(1, 40)^2 g = rep(c("A", "B", "A", "B"), each = 10) xyplot(y~x, groups = g, type = 'l') Is there a way to have a single line and have it be one color when g == "A", and another when g == "B"? random number generator?
Dear R-Aficionados: I realize that no random number generator is perfect, so what I report below may be a result of that simple fact. However, if I have made an error in my thinking I would greatly appreciate being corrected. I wish to illustrate the behavior of small samples (n=10) and so generate 100,000 of them. n.samples <- 1000000 sample.size = 10 p <- 0.0001 z.normal <- qnorm(p)
