reverse object creation
Dear all, this is my first message to this mailing list - please advise if it is not the right place for the subject I've been using R very intensively the last 3-4 years and one of the most tedious tasks is modification of lookup or conversion tables So far, I have not found functions that create the commands for creating objects (vectors, data frames) based on the objects themselves -

reverse object creation
Dear Bo, Please keep the mailing list in cc. Your function only works properly with a data.frame in which all variables are characters. dput() will preserve the structure of the object and works with all R objects. Best regards, ir. Weird bug: system instability after cat /proc/kcore
Ok, the existence of this bug just blew my mind. It appears that after coppying /proc/kcore to disk the system starts to behave strangely. Processes start to sometimes segfault randomly or die with a glibc double free error. The system is perfectly fine prior to catting /proc/kcore. I can reproduce this problem on the 2.6.18 kernel from xen 3.1.0 and 3.1.1-rc2. To trigger it I...

I've created the [print$] share all the directories in this share like W32ALPHA, W32MIPS, W32PPS, W32X86,

Oops on 2.4.13 w/ ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413
Hello, We have about 20 - 30 embedded machines running Linux 2.4.13, which the ext3-2.4-0.9.13-2413 patch applied. These are PowerPC 7410 based systems. I am getting reports of Oops happening either during removes (rm's), or coppies (cp's). Most reports state that issuing the same command once the system boots back up, does not cause it to crash. I guess its something else leading up

package installation from source
Dear all I noticed from NEWS 2.11.0,dev SIGNIFICANT USER-VISIBLE CHANGES o Packages must have been installed under R 2.10.0 or later, as the current help system is the only one now supported. So I tried to follow instructions in manual, Duncan Murdoch presentation and help pages to prepare and accomplish installation of a set of functions I use. However in R 2.11.0dev and too in

Simplified Voicemail app / keeping peace with cohabitants
Hello, I have modified the VoiceMailMain application to satisfy the request of the "local users", i.e., my wife. She lost patience with too many options (we have one mailbox, so we don't need to forward messages, or reply to messages, or file them in 6 different folders...) So the modified app says "Message 1", reads the message, "Message 2", reads...
