PPT text extracter
...ing around, I found Python code from the libreoffice project which makes a nice ppt text extractor after adding a very thin command line wrapper: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/contrib/mso-dumper/ It's pure python, no other dependancies, orders of magnitude faster than unoconv, and contrarily to catppt, does extract the text... Just in case this can be useful to Omega... I can provide more details of course. Cheers, jf

Sortable as a class?
...d. Basically, I would like to send back to the server a request saying "move=foo&from=3&to=5", meaning that item 3 in the "foo" element has been moved to position 5. Sortable provides a number of entry points for this, and I though a subclass would do the trick. But contrarily to other effects, Sortable is not a class, which means I can only change it and not extend it to override what needs to be. What''s the rationale for Sortable not being a class? Is making it a class something that can be envisioned? If yes, I''d happily provide a patch for this...

FAX using T38
...oblem, as far as I know, might be assigned with the "Content-Length" shown in the message header of every SIP message negotiating T38 parameters. I've observed that after leaving Asterisk, the Content-Length of every message carrying T38 parameters gets shorter than truly is, and contrarily to my ATAs that seem to don't care about this, my Telco analyses the packet length written in this messages and truncates them, aborting the call. Does anyone experienced this too? Any ideas besides editing the chan_sip.c code to fix this problem? Thanks, Ricardo.

[LLVMdev] LangRef/implementation inconsistency: What is the intended constraint on function return types?
...s up that there is an inconsistency both within LangRef and between LangRef and the implementation regarding what is an allowed return type. LangRef says: "The return type of a function type is a first class type or a void type." <http://llvm.org/docs/LangRef.html#id14> and also, contrarily, "<returntype>‘ is any type except label." <http://llvm.org/docs/LangRef.html#id15> On the other hand, the actual implementation of FunctionType::isValidReturnType opines that: bool FunctionType::isValidReturnType(Type *RetTy) { return !RetTy->isFunctionTy() &&...

Application slowness after samba upgrade
...rver to a new server running 3.0.22 on Ubuntu. The the workstations were Windows 98 on very old hardware and are now Windows XP on new hardware. Everything is now very fast compared to the old server, except for two applications - a payroll (Ace Payroll) and and finance system (Profax). Somewhat contrarily, these two apps are MUCH slower on the new server than they were on the old server. They have both been around for a while, although we are still getting updates for them. They both use some kind of file based "database" (data files and index files), although the actual "database&q...

Small question on the snmp-ups module
Hi, Our research group is planning to buy an MGE Pulsar Evolution 3000 to protect our operational computers against power failures with an SNMP network management card. We would like to connect the UPS only through its network card (and not via USB or serial cable to another computer) and install the NUT software (client+server) on each machine to catch the shutdown SNMP signal from the UPS

Problems with Steam (counter-strike)
Hi everyone, I recently switched to Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper Drake) GNU/Linux. I installed wine 0.9.9 using Synaptic package manager, and then downloaded steamInstall.exe from http://www.steampowered.com. The installation worked more or less (at first, it occupied progressively (according to the system monitor widgets on the panel) all the free space in my /home/~ (1,2 Gb), all the swap space (1Gb)
